Will there be something interesting for AOE3?
It’s unbelievable for an unpopular game to continue updating after 20 years.
Hold an event please.
I’m counting on TAD 2.0 DLC and MENA DLC in 2025.
I know we haven’t even got a peak at what the new dlc will be, but heres hoping we get another one for 2025 that continues to open up areas we haven’t gotten to explore yet!
I’m gonna inhale copious amounts of hopium and will venture to say that if the 2DEs DLC is any indication, we might be in for something special next year as well.
To celebrate 20 years of AOE3, by far the best game in the saga, we must receive a Safavid Persia and Joseon Korea dlc.
Yes, I think they are going to release a new Asian DLC for AoE 3 and even port it to Xbox next year…
Gather round folks for I have a tale and prediction for you:
Players wake up on the 20th anniversary day morning, wiping their eyes and yawning. “Hurray, Papa, today is the day of a big update, celebrating 20 years of the most interesting Age of Empires game to grace the franchise”, says Timmy, one of the most devout AOE3 players around.
Little Timmy is so excited, having seen an update teased from the Devs on Discord and a broad ‘what’s coming up’ post on the official site mentioning AOE3 (“A rarity!” he thinks), he finds it very hard to eat breakfast and concentrate.
Steam opens. Timmy is almost feverish with exciting. He sees the downloading figure for AOE3: DE make its way to the big 100%. It’s lift-off! It’s downloaded. Everyone in the house is dancing and rejoicing, yes even Papa.
The main screen appears.
… and then to Timmy’s horror, reality hits hard as his heart breaks and his excitment deflates like a miserable balloon.
The first thing that greets Timmy as the update news which is just a massive, creaking fart that seems to last a lifetime. It does eventually end though it’s just followed with nothing. No news, no text descriptions of changes. Just blank.
Timmy is now almost catatonic, however he perseveres until he stumbles upon a new skin available for all civs. It’s basically the default skin for each civ though the hero is now wearing a t-shirt that advertises the next Red Bull Wololo tournament for Age of Empires II.
Within a second he implodes into nothing.
A day later a forum topic is posted from a Timmy_1812 talking about how great it is that at least they did something for AOE3 and that the fact they took the time out to make this hero skin means that the Persian DLC is just around the corner…
WE a company that could leave a simple but game-breaking bug unfixed for three months after making the game f2p, delay the biggest free update of the entire series for two months without any explanation (and no advertising of it at all), intentionally exclude AOE3 in every major event for the series (and add a whole series esports intro to AOE3 only), give a major flag reveal and literally shut up for six months, and cannon galleon.
I have learned the hard way you will be disgusted by WE even if you only have the basic expectation of what a company like this should do. This is a company that lives on scavenging past hard works of ES and the current hard works of the community and its developers, almost doing the minimal of the minimal on their part and when they really do sth it usually ends up ruining the works of the dedicated developers who managed to constantly produce quality contents for free
And some people believe it is WE who keeps the series alive. My ass.
So if you expect literally nothing from them then anything will be a surprise.
BTW are we at least going to get anything for the anniversary of “promised better communication”?
MENA?
What is that supposed to mean?
Middle East North Africa
Ohh nice Sir
Would be wonderful!
Maybe an ottoman buff
I wish all civ will get buffed at least to the Ottoman level, then the balancing can start from there
We’ll have to see what happens after this current Ottoman explorer skin is unlocked.
My mind says it’s nothing. But my heart says they have something planned during the release of AoMR.
Timmy was also told that the fact that the latest game from WE that released September 2024 was made in the same engine as AoE3 is sufficient appreciation of the game and its merits. He is not to expect anything more for he has sinned by not exclusively playing AoE2 and AoE4.
Personally i prefer the Afsharid dynasty
My all-time favorite game. I play an hour a day.
Will be the Aztec explorer skin! I’m more concerned about why DLC was not shown at the Gamescom???
Remember when they announced the US DLC and teased the African DLC with screenshots (months away) in a major event?
That is the peak treatment we ever received.
Gamescom was only AoM. No other game was mentioned even though AoE2 is getting a dlc this year.
