Official release Beetroot mod! (voicelines reform, beta 2.0)

Hi!

I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on for the past few months. Beetroot mod BETA 2.0 adds over NEW 700 audio files for units! The audio quality is debatable, because I wanted to make sure that not everything was taken from one source, but I try to balance amount/quality.

The authors of voicelines and creators are listed, but if it needs to be highlighted more, I will of course do so. My work was to combine these elements, add more diversity and immersion. Mod also includes a few small surprises and Easter eggs, which are not necessarily immersive, but rather created for fun. There will be more in future versions, but for now I wanted to focus on my priorities.

The alpha and beta 1.0 versions were not made public except for short periods, which is why version 2.0 is actually the first one to be widely available for everyone.

I am open to criticism, because voicelines may not convey translation 100% accurately, but I worked hard, rly. Since I am a beginner modder in AoE3, unfortunately the project took me four months, but I am satisfied enough with the results that I want to share it. If you have any questions, feel free to write.

AoE servers repeatedly and for various reasons prevented me from publishing mod themselves, so I finally decided to publish it at least on ModDB (and maybe on other sites in the future). For now, I don’t plan to publish it anywhere else. Since the mod is free like any other in the community, I don’t claim any rights, but I would be grateful if you mentioned me in your mod or project.

Hi everyone!
My project has grown to over +1,000 audio files, most of which are new! Only a few involve adjusting the tone of audio units or reusing existing, but not unused in game by dev. Over +150 units feature new voicelines options, mainly for mercenaries. The mod also includes a few little surprises and some Easter eggs. The selection isn’t random; it stems from my love for these specific civilizations. You can, of course, check everything in the mod files, but I encourage you to check it out yourself just for fun. The audio quality varies depending on the available sources, but I always try to make sure they have “soul” - In my opinion, it’z best when a units expresses their emotions in some way, but I understand that this isn’t alwayz possible. I also used the unknown maps mod by Vividlyplainand so that the units on his maps would have more unique or new voicelines.

I’m not an expert in marketing, and I was definitely involved in it back when the internet was more for little today’s boomers, zo I’d appreciate it if been recommend Beetroot mod to your friends or something like that. Of course, only if you like it. I’m open to discussion and corrections to the translation.

In the near future, I’ll try to post some additional videos and content to promote my mod. I think I’ve completed about 50% of what I want to add or change. I’ve divided the work into four stages BETA + a few little surprises that might pop into my head along the way.

I know nobody asked, but just in case—yes, I love raccoons. Raccoons steal, just like me!

It’s annoying that I can’t change the thread title, because I don’t want to start a new one on forum just to let people know that I’ve managed to make progress from ver. 2.0 toward my planned ver. 4.5 (as if those numbers would excite anyone other than me). But I’m closer to my goal than I am far from it!

I’m not kidding when I say that version 4.5 contains over 1,300+ audio files.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that all of them are in use or unique, but aside from the native units, I try to give the mercenaries more “to say” :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: It’s hard for me to not respect ethnic minorities, so I try to avoid conflict, but sometimes even AoE itself uses simplifications (via Lenape). Future editions will probably be more controversial, but I can always change or remove something. I read about it online and about the game itself—whether I can change something or thinking why I want just to do it. I remove some of my silly ideas, but on the other side, if someone is looking for non-historically references, they’ll find those too.

I’d also like to share some information or gameplay on YT. For now, I’m waiting to see what to say @IronKaiser5 to whom I sent the latest version of Beetroot on his Dsc.

Sorry for the ping guys, but you’re the silent co-creators of my mod and inspiration for working on my own skills. It’s silly, but I’ve credited y’all da’ mod files and on ModDB page.

I’ve listed all the authors files—except for the guys who recordings… goats. But that’s only because I don’t remember source! Other than that it was fair-use license. Thankz.
