For Grenadiers, it might be possible to put a low build limit on them and buff them. For Otto grens, making them 1pop, even with a build limit of 30 in age 5, is nightmare fuel.
Once again, the grenadier should’ve been what the soldado is. Because that is what the grenadiers were. It’d be also far easier to balance.

My friend and i tested it and its one big joke. Until you get the 3x bonus in equal pop the grenadiers win.
Once you get the bonus in lower pops like 50 vs 25 your skirms win but the more grenadiers you have the better i goes.
I final test was 90 skirms vs 45 grens standing in front of eacher. The grenadiers won the fight, you cant kit them because of there 4.5 speed. They shouldnt be that fast.

You do know that standard grens can beat abus guns in even number right? Siege damage + splash just goes hard like that.
In any case, humba should lose to an even number of musks. Better than that, most goons can just out trade them.
yes the (checks notes) potentially 22 range skirm with siege dmg and access to rifling vs the 2 pop heavy infantry.
And thats why range AoE should be reserved for Non artillery cibs only

All that aside, humba with the lower range resist are weaker to things that most grens might not be. For instance, goons take 0.5 damage from grens because of multipliers but grens also take 0.5 damage cuz of resistance - oddly even matchup at range (tho one-sided in melee), but humba kinda flatline there.
The real otto problem is the azap/CA/artillery comp but I guess were at the point of talking about that.

And how do you imagine that to happen? They have 4 more range and better speed than standard musks and are probably cheaper per pop

Meanwhile janissaries can walk through almost everything in age 2, azaps are heavy infantry that can have 20% range resist, otto cav archers with the flight archery are a true horror, and bombards can be 6 pop.
Those are the REAL problems going unnoticed for all the abus/humba crying.
