Out of memory error when the PC has plenty of memory left

I have been playing some co-op multiplayer against AI, and this has happened twice now. The first time was in a 4v4 game, so I limited it to 3v3 for future games, but then it happened again in this 3v3 game:

aoe 4 out of memory
aoe 4 out of memory1920×1080 420 KB

Looking at that again, I guess the problem is the committed amount being close to 32GB, but why is the game using so much RAM? Min spec is just 8GB. Now that the game has closed, committed is just 10GB, so the game was using 22GB.
