Pastures should be available for Mongols too

And perhaps Huns, Tatars and Cumans as well

Yes (maybe less for the Tatars) but it would need rebalancing the pasture, probably nerfing it while giving the Khitans a bonus to compensate it.

And let’s hope the Mongol hunting bonus doesn’t apply to pastures or it might get a little bit OP

No. I feel like theyve ruined the game enough with this DLC. Let’s not ruin a bunch of the old civs as well (I’m already a little worried about Chinese/Koreans/Vietnamese with their new Fire Lancers and Rocket Carts - these might be completely fine, but it’s already a lot to take in and adapt to).

How the pastures would “ruin” the Mongols and other old civs?

Thematically, the Mongols should have pastures too, it would be improvement.

And balancing is possible. The Mongols also received Steppe Lancer, which is not original AoE2 unit

If the balance remains similar it mostly be a cosmetic change. Between the base value and possible civ bonuses there is enough to play with, to make sure it doesn’t unbalance the game.

For a start pastures are more wood-efficient than farms so the balance hammer could strike that.

I can understand the argument that legacy civs shouldn’t be reworked out of nostalgic or similar reasons.

Which is why a good compromise would be a “legacy mode”, which would include the original AoC balance. Although from what I’ve read that would mean Hun wars meta all over again

In this case to replace mongolian farms with pastures, it is not that complicated proces - The mongols do not have farming bonuses, and do not have last imprial age farming tech.

Few testing with and without pastures, how does it work in practice, and we can do it.

The original AOC balance targetted a standard of 75 pops, while higher numbers favour more snowbally units. Hence why infantry was so underwhelming relative to archers.

The pasture doesn’t need a mill and yields more food than farms per wood cost, 2 sources of wood economy over farms. I let you imagine the synergy for strong rush civs.

But decreasing the base food yield while giving the Khitans a food yield bonus to compensate would fix that.

I don’t want to defend the devs given how many blunders they commited with this new DLC, but this is a really funny way of saying you’re maladapted to literally any change ever.

Devs only follow orders, the decisions are taken by the high-ups.

This person whom you reply doesnt seem like the nicest so…
