Path finding is "broken"

:arrow_forward: ISSUE EXPERIENCED

Since the last patch (Dec. 2023 Patch: 99311) the path finding got much worse. For an example Scouts got lost in the forest and could not find the way back to explore. Lumber Jacks stopped working because they could not find a way back to the lumber camp.

In the save file and the screen shot there is an example of lumber jacks doing stupid stuff. If you look at the screen shot there are 2 lumber jacks back to the place where they gathering wood from. But instead of bringing the lumber to the town center which is much closer the walk all the way to the “storage pit” which is more then twice the way.
If you look at the upper left corner I had to wall up to prevent the villages bringing stuff to the right town center instead of the town center that’s directly in the area.

The fleet movement in this mission is a horror the ships move in stupid formations getting in their way, blocking them self. If I put some of them at the shore to be repaired they don’t stopping moving if I move one repaired ship out of they way the rest of the ships start moving again and the villager stops repairing.

In other cases I had the problem that I selected troops and told them to go somewhere in the map was a cliff and the troops did not walk around them instead the moved to the right corner of the cliff and stopped their. Instead of moving left or right around the cliff.

This save game is from “Return of Rome” the “Ave Caesar” custom scenario. But the path finding problem is not specific to “Return of Rome” or this scenario. It’s the same in normal AOE2 and official scenarios.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Load the save file
  2. Look at the lumber jacks in the upper screen
    or
  3. Select damage ships and bring them to shore
  4. Start repairing them and move the already repaired ships
