Pathfinding improvements?

At high populations, my units have trouble pathfinding. For instance, if I tell a paladin to go kill a siege onager, it keeps pausing while trying to close on the enemy. The problem is that the onager keeps attacking and can easily score a hit because the unit has stopped moving. It really puts melee units at a disadvantage.

Will this be addressed in the December patch?
