Players dodge ranked games

It happens quite often that players dodge certain maps. Please make players lose ELO when they do this. It is very annoying.

Or maybe they should finally implement map bans (seems about time after a year and a half?) so people don’t have incentive to dodge in the first place.

Or both.

Agreed, both the map bans is a good idea imo and not allowing people to get away with cherry picking how their ranked match can happen by avoiding the games they dont like without punishment

I agree that bans should be an option. But at the same time I feel like a part of the skill is being able to play on water as well as land. It is typically Anatolia that people avoid or dc from.

Like lets say i enjoy anatolia and when i am finally lucky enough to get that i end up with a player that dodge. That is very frustrating. So yes, i would prefer bans.

There’s a line between what is “part of the skill” and what is simply unfun for a significant portion of playerbase. In case of map bans (or rather, lack thereof) and being forced into playing maps you don’t want to, I think it definitely crosses into “unfun” territory, map bans is a fairly basic feature which most of popular RTSes tend to have these days.

For the record, I do like Anatolia personally, and I’m fine playing water maps in general, but I definitely don’t think enforcing them on everyone is the way to go.

…but I feel like this discussion is pointless since I’m not optimistic about any new multiplayer features getting implemented, anyway.

this will lead to those players stomping in the maps they like to play, if fell like more bans are needed and also lock civ should independent of the other players choise.

Ur absolutely right about there needs to be balance in forcing players.

The thing is water in all of AoE games have always been in a very weird spot. That’s why they have their own category. I actually liked the approach devs took initially. The water didn’t affect that much in early game but gave boost in late game. Although it wasn’t perfect it did show that devs have realized that people are very anxious towards water.

But now they have made water all the same as other AoEs. For this reason there is no other choice. They have let players decide whether or not they want to play on water. But non the less this doesn’t mean that people should be free to dodge/leave/throw.

There must be punishment for these.
