Please add DPS for the units without hovering the mouse

adding this will allow us to instantly know what really matters, the dps without having to do the matemathic

maybe if this is added to the mod loggy… please

You could probably create a mod that does that.

It would be really convenient to see both at once, specially if you want to see how impactfull upgrades are that change the rate of fire.

0.00001% chance. I prefer stop playing the game tbh

I actually didn’t notice it has 3 spear icons, meaning it does more than 50 DPS

Doesn’t that show the number of projectiles?

Dps doesn’t really matter.

The most important information is damage per hit, not DPS hence why it’s not displayed directly. Crowding the UI for no reason wouldn’t be a good idea imo.

may explain why? i just see dps becasue comparison armies is easier

in order to calculate damage per hit, i would have to make an ecuation that would take me a lot of time. Is imposible to do it as quick as i need it.

also i dont know anything about how those projectiles work

Because most units don’t have 1 attack per second, so any calculations based on dps isn’t going to give you a correct picture.

We had this conversation before. Iirc i suggested having a switch in settings to turn between damage per hit and dps, defaulting to the useful metric of damage per hit. Idk if the option was added.

Why not? im not asking switching im asking both, there is enough space there and its not crowding the iu for no reason, people would know the damage is at left and the dps in the right

It does. In most fights units attack more then just once so you want to know how much damage they do during a prolonged fight.

Being able to see something directly without having to do maths is pretty helpful. How long does it take the average person to divide damage by rate of fire and then sometimes multiply by number of projectiles?

Why not allow people to choose? I can see why it can be confusing to new players to see more numbers but please allow more experienced players to see the information they need to see.

I think the main reason they switched from DPS to damage per hit is because DPS can be very confusing for low rate of fire units like siege. Also in old AoM many units did exactly 1 attack per second so effectively DPS and single attack where the same value.

Also every other game in the series show damage per attack and not DPS.

You said it yourself, it’s confusing and mislead people, especially with high damage unit suffering overkill.

A unit doing 100 damage / 4s is 25 DPS, another doing 25 dmg/s is the same but against a unit with 75HP the first unit will kill it in 4s the second one in 3.

So yes, DPS isn’t that great of a measure.

My point was never to remove the damage per hit, I just want DPS in addition.

I would rather see DPS then rate of fire because rate of fire is really only there to calculate DPS.

No, you don’t. In prelonged fights you just approximate based on your own experience, you don’t do math.

In smaller/shorter fights what matters is the number of hits needed to kill something, not damage per second

That’s not really true. The rate of fire is pretty high in AoM so units almost always get more then 1 hit on.

Also there are technologies that change the rate of fire of units so having a DPS number is helpful.

Also not everyone is a pro gamer who does a lot of micro. Many people just want to know how much damage their units do when they send them head on into an enemy army.

Good thing you now have a metric showing exactly that in the UI.

No you don’t see DPS, you need to hover over attack to see it. And no just having rate of fire and attack damage is not the same as showing DPS.

I just want to be able to see both directly without having to either calculate it or hover over it. Is there anything wrong about that?

I never said that it should not display damage per hit anymore, I just want to have the option to see both.

I mean you know exactly how much damage units actually delt cause it’s displayed in the UI. It’s unrelated to showing dps. And much more useful.

Yeah but that is after the fight not before the fight.

If you don’t want DPS than thats you decision. Why are you against other people having the ability to show it?
