Please add reflections to AoE2 Ships

It was there in AoE1 DE ships.

Yes it is possible in AoE2 DE as is evident with the new Nessie Seamonster Graphics.

I’d far prefer translucent water as shown in that bottom screenshot  But reflections could be cool, too. The AoE2:DE water feels pretty flat and opaque

EDIT: I stand corrected by myself. I usually play zoomed out, so didn’t realize the water was actually translucent in AoE2:DE until I zoomed in, lol. I’m pretty sure more could be done to make it feel more translucent from farther out zoom, like contrasty shapes such as reefs, under the water, especially in the shallow water

Found these quick ones on the internet. I think AoE3:DE did pretty good underwater features, iirc

Okay, thank you for the quick diversion. Back to your regularly scheduled topic of reflections in AoE2!

That’s not a reflection, it’s the “underwater” part, which is also used for fish, dolphins, and turtles. Unlike the AoE1 DE reflections, it’s visible on any terrain, not just water.

That underwater part is exactly how reflection could also work.

Where can I find this?

Aoe1 DE had amazing graphics, specially water, it feels such a waste now. 2 DE water looks painted on a canvas in comparison.

Nessie was added as Gaia unit to the Scenario Editor with the recent update. It is invisible when placed, and from time to time, it surfaces. I don’t really know how it works yet. But if you just want to see its animation, you can use Modify Attribute and give graphics ID 2518 to another object. I changed the Fishing Ship’s standing graphic. Then you can also move it around to view the animation’s different directions.

Graphics ID 2519 is only the underwater part, like this:
