Please Buff Handcannoneers to Make Them the Dominant Unit on the Open Battlefield

Currently, the game struggles with late-game “pushing the frontline forward into the enemy’s base”. Handcannoneers are extremely expensive and have very poor mobility. Their practical use is very limited and doesn’t justify their cost at all. They shouldn’t be hard-countered by Archers, Cavalry, or Mangonels .

It’s well known that in the gunpowder age, handcannoneers were capable of countering cavalry.

Right now, aside from using cavalry (all types) to kill villagers, players have few other effective strategies.

Well,
it’s been a while since I’ve done “Handcannoneers”.
I’m a casual player, so I can’t say if they’re balanced or weak.
We would need the opinion of professional players to know if there is any way to improve the “Handcannoneers” or if they don’t need updates/improvements at all.

My simple view would be this:
The “Handcannoneers”, being units with high technology for their time, should naturally be powerful.

The “Handcannoneers” would function like “Crossbowmen”, but with a much higher base damage and a damage bonus against armored/heavy units and siege units.

However, I imagine that Archers, Light Cavalry, and some siege units need to have some bonus damage to try to counter the “Handcannoneers”, otherwise they will be dominant in all situations.

Why the need to buff handcannoneers?

I feel that Handcannoneers are too weak, they’re not worth their cost. They’re expensive and weak.我
