Please do not have 50% Euro civs in this game like in AoE2

We need 50 percent or more Euro civs in this game as was shown in a poll on this site.
It is will of the people.

Where is that poll? And I doubt that people will still think the same 4 or 6 civs in

This is highly doubtful, even if there’s a tiny poll in this small community. All the major team reviews and many famous players are complaining English, French (some also HRE) are the most boring civs right now, even in my country Brazil. IGN team was stark, dramatic in the criticism of English and French. Personally, I strongly agree with IGN. Plus, Byzantines and Ottomans are by far the most important civs in Europe in the AoE4 timeframe, that would make 6-8 European civs.

Yeah, they are kinda boring. Because the devs made them kinda boring. Which means they need to go back and make them less boring, and less generic, because I seem to remember them throwing around the word “asymmetrical”.

Let’s put the Ottomans in the game, give them 1 unique unit, and have 50% of their landmarks effectively be buildings that you can already build as a non-landmark. In fact, let’s make them buildings that almost every civ can build and should build. Then we’ll see how interesting the Ottomans are.

Balancing 2 new civilisations is a lot easier than balancing 8 at once.
The 8 are the base line now. New civilisations only have to be balanced against this base line and the old civilisations don’t really have to change.
Still think they should change up old civilisations to keep the game fresh.

AoE3DE proves that you can have eve more diverse civilisations and still have a balanced game.

That is partially true but they can’t keep supporting the game without selling new content.
And why would people even start playing a game if they know there will be no support or new content anymore.
At some point they need to make a successor anyway (it it’s successful)

Dota and lol also still get new Heroes all the time.
It’s something you can’t really prevent if you want to be long time successful.

without some civs the game just feels lacking and incomplete even from the release! like Persians, Byzantines, Japanese, Koreans, Aztecs, Mayans, Mali, …
thoughts?

Persia is hard to do in AoE4.
The time 1000-1500AD is like the worst possible time frame since the Bronze Age to add Iranians/Persians.
Persians were influential in other empires like the Abbasides, the Timurids or the Delhi Sultanate but they didn’t have their own independent kingdom/empire.
So what should AoE4 Persians represent?

yeah that’s true I agree with you but with the new system they introduced for Chinese where aside from the age up you can also choose different dynasties it’s possible I think, like the Samanids or Khwarazmians, Buyids

The capital was Bursa in Anatolia, then Andrinople in Anatolia before the fall of Constantinople in 1453…

Thank you for the information, didn’t know it

No. Before they conquered constantinople, it’s the seljuks which captured most of the lands in anatolia.
And ottomans conquered greece after the fall of constantinople.

Adrianople/Edrine is on the European continent West of Constantinople/Istanbul. It was their capital for nearly a century (from 1369 to 1453).

The Ottomans conquered half of what’s today Greece before Constantinople.

They still conquered the whole after the fall. And I was right about anatolia… It’s not them which conquered most of greeks. The latin states already controlled zone at the west of constantinople after 4th crusader, and Seljuks made the greatest part of the job for east.

A more decent map too.^

I don’t even know what you means by they conquered most of greeks… When they dealt with a lot of entities which were already no more the byzantine empire in this area

The capital of the Ottoman Empire was beautiful Bursa in Anatolia first, then amazing Edirne in Europe (Thrace), finally the Eternal City, Istanbul / Constantinople. I’m lucky to have ‘touristed’ these 3 incredible cities and wish to go back soon.

Tout are true, Edirne is an other name for Andrinople, and it IS Indeed in Europe.

They really need to add the Norse, it was the definition of the northern civilizations, having a extensive history of warfare and expansion, building colonies quite far away in many of the worlds continents.

My desired civilizations if they add them would be

  • Norse
  • Byzantine
  • Ottoman empire
  • Aztec
  • Iberians

Another popular civ that I ignored are the Japanese and Koreans
Tried to squeeze all 3 in but ultimately I didn’t as I prefer SEA civs .

PS. Were you replying to my recent reply or the topic itself ?
