Maori would make more sense for AoE3.
They only settled New Zealand around 1300 AD so in the middle of the AoE4 timeline.
They are also famous for relatively successfully fighting the British.

Ever herd of starving a city to submission
Do you really think people would storm city walls like how its shown in movies?
I do agree with you. The thing is though that I think among all possible Oceanian civs, they’re the most recognizable ones.
Tongans would be really nice to see though.
If you can find someone who’ll sit out a 2 year siege.
Pretty much every siege worked on those principles.
Starve the local population until they surrender/get weak enough for you to easily rush.
Thank god, I am from the planet Earth so love all the civs with their advantages and weaknesses. I just need the fun gameplay.
I like Japan a lot.
I don’t think they fit into this game, though.
Why not?
Seems to be a reasonable civilisation. We already have Chinese and Mongols.
They just seem very isolationist and embroiled in civil wars during the span of the entire game.
But if we aren’t going to get a couple of other interesting East Asian civs, then I guess Japan is fine.
They weren’t really isolationist, at last a lot less then later during Edo times.
The Mongols even tried to invade them twice.
Also they weren’t in a civil war all the time. There were multiple peace full times too.
Also how can they be in a civil war and being isolationist. Either can be true not both. If there is no central power no one can enforce the isolation.
I mean, we could just look at the imperial period and add some Shogunate related stuff
Easily solved by adding multiple Japanese civilisations.
I think you need to hone your history of the Americas. They certainly did not have guns, steel or horses… but they were far more advanced in other areas, such as agriculture and medicine. They had equal or better knowledge of mathematics and astronomy.
If disease hadn’t absolutely devastated their societies, and had the Spanish not had plenty of Indigenous allies which have largely been left out of the history books, the conflicts could have gone much different.
The truth is that we will not know how the 2 hemispheres would stack up against each other. I would not consider an invasion of Europe at the height of the black death to be a good measure of European power… so why would I judge the Americas like that?
Game doesnt even have a patrol function, and people here are talking about which new civs should be added
There’s a saying in my home land: the country is burning, and the old lady combs her hair. Fits perfectly here.
Oh noes! Patrol function not in the game! What a desastor!!11
I too would like a patrol function, but this is completely off topic to this thread.
Personally I don’t really care at all what percentage of civs come from which region, just that they are interesting and fun to play. I do see difficulty in adding civs from some regions that were far behind in military technology while keeping things somewhat historically accurate.
We can simultaneously ask for both.
Its not like we have to wait for one to be implemented to start suggesting another thing.
Its up to the devs to prioritize what features they want in the game.
You are wrong about this. In the past Vietnam was a forest full of poisonous insects and snakes. There was never a Chinese empire which was thirst for the land of Vietnam. Actually, there was a group of peasant uprising army(or even you can call them bandits) running away from the mainland of China. They defeated the Vietnam army easily and ruled the Vietnam for hundreds of years.
Lol. Actually, Mongols is included by the China. Bengalis seem like ants through the history.
