Please improve the game's pathing. Here is a solid example

I’ve played AOE 2 from the get go with HD edition and have seen many changes. I will say that the pathing has definitely go down the gutter as we progress. We are not progressing; we are regressing here and it’s rather embarrassing.

Here is a video made by a pro veteran player name Survivalist on YT.

The examples starts at 6:12 about how responsive units used to be in HD compared to now.

At 12:53 is a prime example of how stupid unit formation and pathing works to make our current archer do this sort of shuffle in the middle of the battle and die… This is probably the most frustrating thing of all right now.

Please address these problems. My thoughts/solution to this is to make unit formation an ACTIVE mechanic, where the player have to hit a hotkey for units to engage in these formations. If no hotkey is press and the player is right clicking for the unit to move somewhere, the units will move directly to that somewhere. No more of this shuffle, U turn non senses.

Devs definitely need to improve path finding, just look at the HD version for reference. I can’t count how many time my armies got destroyed because of the absolutely terrible path finding, especially the part when units kept going back ward or shuffling around instead of moving to where I told them to. It’s been years now and they still haven’t addressed the issue.

Yup. This issue is probably the biggest hanging fruit for them to address. So many players/customers would be pleased and happy if they focus their time and energy into improving this instead of pressing to release DLC.

But you know… DLC = $$$$ grab. So it’s more lucrative to release DLC. Well don’t be a sucker and contribute into a broken system until they fix it.
