Poll: Are you in favor of auto queue villagers on PC? (Toggle - can turn on / off)

It CAN be enabled in ranked.

If this feature was only enabled in custom/qm and cheaters would hack it into ranked, ok, then again that’s the fault of the devs for not auto-banning hackers or permabanning them at all.
You can’t blame it on the feature, it is just the Devs/decision makers who REFUSE to tackle the hackers and cheaters.

Why don’t we have a software like Vanguard in Valorant and league of legends?
The software detects ANY 3rd party software or modification to the game and INSTANTLY bans the player perma, hardware ban. Never being able to play the game again on their pc on any account.

So far about this.
Where is the solution for aoe4? Where are the mass perma bans? Where is the communication?

In low elo and high elo, absolutely no problem.
In low elo it would make the game more accessable for newbies and in high elo it wouldn’t make much difference anyways, because people don’t skip making vills anyways, but it would make the game more comfortable.
You don’t have an “unfair” advantage when using auto-train vill feature.
And a bronzie wouldn’t suddenly be conqueror.

There is absolutely no reason to keep the feature OFF the game.

I myself was conq2 in team, conq1 in solo (so not a new player) before I stopped playing and would have loved this feature to be added, because it let’s you focus on the fights and micro management more.
I would have loved to have auto-training for all military units and malian cows as well.
Don’t see any downside to it.
This game is extremely macro and multitasking-heavy compared to other RTS games and at the same time requires lots of strategic thinking.
It is just being made artificially harder by being a year 1998 game without such QOL features.

I would have loved auto-grouping as well.
That you can select a unit and group it, all other units of the same type will be grouped too.

Unfortunately Relic is not gonna do that because they are stubborn AF.
That’s one of the many reasons I left this 1998 beta game.

In my view, this will bring problems and unhappiness to some in the game. If the company values keeping the game popular, they need to be careful with any decision because some can be a point of no return.

This would affect all ranks, contrary to what you say. If it didn’t affect them, you wouldn’t be so in favor of it, saying it would focus on micro. That’s just an excuse.

It would also greatly impact the competitive scene. People who watch want to see not just units fighting but also players establishing and managing their economy and doing what they do. Once you remove a necessity from the game, matches will start focusing only on what’s left. Few RTS games have such high relevance today, and why do you think those that don’t are doing so much better than the others?

Just facts, if they want to try something new, it’s better to test it in a new game, maybe in Mythology, so it won’t disrupt the existing player base.

Unit creation is not a problem and doesn’t take effort, so don’t say it would help with micro—that’s just an excuse. I play the game, and it’s so automatic that I don’t even remember having to create villagers. I’m extremely aggressive, always looking for good fight opportunities or defending myself, and villager creation is so automatic that it doesn’t disrupt the pace of the fight. I repeat why I think this is an excuse: for those who can’t manage an RTS game and seek ease, claiming it would improve micro. Ask high-ranking players if it would really improve their micro. Is selecting the TC and pressing Q such a big hindrance that it interferes with micro?

For those who are starting and want to use the feature to learn the game while understanding the mechanics, I think it’s welcome. But adding it to ranked games is outrageous to many players. If it weren’t, you would see a large mass supporting it here.

If you find it difficult, improve yourself and don’t come up with the excuse that it’s Conquer. It’s almost like playing Elden Ring or another challenging game and thinking they should increase the character’s health (a silly example) because the character dies too quickly from a few hits, claiming it would help in fights by making them last longer and more dynamic. If you want to play RTS, play RTS. If you want to command just one hero, play MOBA. If you want to command only an army, play a game that focuses solely on battles.

Age has economy management, and it’s one of the factors that makes it a good RTS.

Indeed, even I marked in red that they are custom matches and quick games

I absolutely don’t agree with your points.
Absolutely not.

No u should be punished for forgetting to build villagers
else its dumb as f and noobs will have massive advantage handed to them, forgetting to build villlagers happen when u put them under pressure and attack them, wtf should they be rewarded for playing bad?

AOE 1 2,3 doesnt have auto queue either, why should aoe4 have that

if u want auto villagers play on console it has that, if this crap is added on Ranked it will become a shit fest.

if this is added i want Auto Army, Auto Scout, Auto Farm. Auto Build

auto attack

and auto siege please, so i dont need to micro anything thx

The automatic queue is not available in ranked, so the player will have to get used to producing 5 villagers with the shift key

Get help bronzie

In aoe 2 you can press the ‘a’ key while selecting gathering villagers to have them drop off resources immediately and go back to work doing the same task. There are many other automation features in the previous titles that aoe 4 doesn’t have, reducing the micro the player does just opens the door for more sophisticated strategy and play. It’s not strictly training wheels for noobs, it’s just an advancement in technology that allows you to do more with your micro skills. Like every single other QOL change.

its available in ranked i have console friend who plays and has it

sure something like that is nice but not automatic villager, u should be punished for forgetting and putting on pressure, if im raiding your base and your taking loses why should u be compensated for it

The console also has resource prioritization, but I thought it was implicit that we are referring exclusively to the PC game

I disagree.
A high level player will usually not forget making vills.
He will make very sure to never stop making villagers, whenever he can afford the food.
But (!!!) giving him auto-queue will shift his playstyle mildly, as he has more time to focus on other things like micro, harrassment, map control etc.
It would only make the game more high-skilled, exciting and we would see more strategy.
Especially if we got an auto-queue for military units.
I personally don’t ever forget making vills, but it does cost me some apm/multitasking for other things, even if not much and I’m playing at conq level. Would really love full-auto queue for all units and villagers, the game would benefit a LOT from that.
My apm is not the highest though, I’m more of a micro/strategy winner than apm winner.
I don’t think high apm players with worse micro/strategic thinking would will have a disadvantage with auto-queue either. As it will open up EVEN MORE free apm for them for other things. Then they can fulltime multitask their eco and fight at 10 points of the map simultanously.

For new players and low elo players auto-queues would be amazing as well, because they can’t handle the multitasking in this game at all.
So it would massively improve their experience and make the game more accessible and more fun for them.

you just berated for my rank and im saying we dont need such thing despite being a low rank player
i like to do things manually and not have it automaitc, if its automatic u need to make everything automatic as well

it already exist in custom game also theres a mod for it. aoe1,2,3 never had auto queue villager why would 4 need it just because of a few ppl

and majority of ppl do not want auto queue villager, this forum has low playerbase. post on Reddit u will see Majority of ppl say no

I think we would reach a consensus if we have an auto queue, for villagers and military, with penalties. For example, 10% slower creation. The fact is that this functionality greatly improves the experience of players, especially those who are starting to play Age.

That is honestly a very very bad idea.
It would only help people who play their first 5 or 10 matches of an rts in their life.
For all other players it just gives them a 10% disadvantage and the feature would never be used.

Why not make it no penalty and just enable it for quickmatch?
Or create and option to play with it enabled/disabled and only match with players that have the same setting.
At some point the devs will see how the players like it, statistically.
I am 100% sure, a LOT of the people who have concerns would love the featue in the end and realized they were scared of it for absolutely no reason, because of their old dinosaur habbits…
DONT CHANGE THE SYSTEM GAME WILL BE TOO EASY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It’s not about making a game too easy. It’s moving the goalpost of the actual gameplay experience. Granted, mashing H and Q to make villagers isn’t very engaging, but it is the consequence of not doing it that is a problem.

If players don’t need to worry about producing military or villagers, what else will they spend their time on? Microing units?

Do you understand what that means? It becomes a battle of endurance. If both players have automated spamming units into the middle of the map, you have created a deadlock with no engagement. How does a player make a difference when there’s little separating them?

Strategy? It’s not a 4X game. Having to produce your own military and villagers is not preventing anyone from making some funny walls west of the map, or keep dropping someone. It is, in fact about the natural balance of one’s speed. If you have gotten to a point where you literally cannot move your attention away from producing units trying to not be overwhelmed; then you’ve already lost. You’re not meant to win that. The game shouldn’t prolong your participation.

The point is that the faster player has a tangible advantage. In fact, RTS games traditionally made scaling up depend on your speed as well. You can’t command multiple barracks to build in Broodwar for instance, and manual reseeding was a mechanic exactly to prevent endless scaling of the game. That is to say, these mechanics made it hard for you to scale up unless you had the micro capacity to handle it. It made the better player, the one who could better successfully utilize his economy and micro its output.

So again. It isn’t because manual production is interesting in of itself. But, if you remove all ways for players to be punished for either making mistakes or just being bad, then you are just artificially prolonging these games.

What’s the endgame exactly? Two armies that just play against each other, with you giving voice commands? Maybe this could be an accessibility feature, but as far as the actual expectation for who should win; it should always be the quicker, creative and more consistent player.
