If you rely on regeneration of Heroes with 400 hp for campaign, then ranked is definitely not the place for you. Furthermore it’s free for Heroes. Dravidians need elephant mass that cost a ton of resources and with their economy or lack of it. They can only mass elephants post imp by which time the game is already decided. So the tech is next to useless for the civ. On the other hand, due to lack of Knight and cav Archer. A speed boost to their elephants will make them viable in smaller numbers As well.
Skirms are getting a nerf this patch. So I expect Dravidians to go down again. Hopefully Devs give them an early economy bonus by combining the wood bonus and change of medical corps.
You’re the guy who sound like you don’t play ranked and only theorycraft on paper tbh. I was referencing the regen rate being the same as heroes to say that it’s a solid amount of regen per minute, I don’t even play campaigns much. Berber camel units after their UT is only 15 hp per minute. In comparison, the medical corp tech is a pretty cheap one while being much better, and as you pointed out, an army of ele archers cost a lot resources to mass—which should already tell you that the cost of the UT is small and marginal. The heroes’ regen is free but you’re only paying a small amount (compared to your army’s cost) for the UT to give each of your unit what a campaign hero has.
No, a moderate speed boost to elephant units will not make them viable in small numbers as well, that’s completely baseless. Unless you’re suggesting making them nearly fast as knights (which is nonsensical and devs will never do it), elephant units still aren’t viable in small numbers due to losing to monks and/or pikes
Elephant archers are more of a team game unit especially on closed maps, much more so than 1v1 Arabia, that’s just a reality. And in these use cases, the Dravidian elephant archer is the best out of the 3 civs that has ele archers, by far, and I can tell you with dozens and dozens of games I’ve won with them, the regen UT is good because it makes your army very sustainable. Take a onager shot and lose 1/3 of hp on half your units, a few minutes later they’re good as new on their own. It’s a good UT and where it should be.
Allow me to remind you how good Khmer battle elephants were when they were 15% faster as bonus. There have been enough nerfs to those BE stats. 20% speed boost would be optimal for late castle age.
In that case, just like Berbers the tech should be in imperial age and woots steel Should be in Castle age. It’s just poor design to have medical corps in Castle age.
