[POLL]: How to Deal With the Hero Situation

Lol. There were like a few bonuses introduced and one removed but that made them a better civ . If that’s what you intend for Shu, Wu and Wei I’m more than happy to take your “new” civs after “deleting” them.

Indians were a camel and gunpowder civ with cheap vills, imperial camels, gunpowder and ca. Hindustanis are a great civ with slightly less cheap vills, imperial camels, better gunpowder and slightly weaker CA. That’s all that matters to me…Maybe you call the current Chinese civ something else, a faction that was known for technology and then grant suitable names for those 3 set of bonuses keeping most their design but better suited uu.

“It depends”

Depends on what civ they would be replaced with. Also three kingdoms belonging/not belonging in the game aside…these three civs feel like a mess thematically. Sure they fit the “cavalry, archery, infantry” triangle, but nothing about them feels like the Three Kingdoms. Their bonuses are weird and make no sense (why do built buildings suddenly have food in them? What does that represent?).

My most important requirement for a civ (aside from actually being from the Middle Ages…) is asking “Does it feel like X when playing as them?”

Do Mongols make you feel like commanding the Mongol Empire? Do you feel like the Franks doing a knightly charge etc. Three Kingdoms just feel like they are loosely cobbled together. So personally I would like them completely reworked from the ground up even if they stay.

But as to my “who replaces them” comment. Say the Tanguts, Tibetans and Bai replace the Wu, Wei & Shu. I don’t want to see bonuses that feel unfitting used for the former.

As for the Indians → Hindustanis…

A lot of the reason they have similar vibes is both are heavily based on Northern India. There’s some common ground there, and might as well recycle the bits that work.

And you can see the themes that don’t fit the Hindustanis leaving the Indian civ and re-emerging in the Gurjaras, Bengalis & Dravidians. Like their old fish bonus.

I don’t want them deleted. Just moved off of ranked.

All fine, you can come up with cavalry, archer, infantry (maybe even replace infantry with ca or gunpowder) belonging to different regions of China and time period..As long as their bonuses fit the civ type I’m happy.

No, Mongols and Franks make me feel like I’m going to win because of their super strong early game and mobility. Its fine if even the civs don’t stay but some of those unit concepts and bonuses are bundled up in the right way.

Totally ok if one or two underwhelming bonuses, like extra attack for Hei guang cav in imp, go away but I’d prefer if the good ones, like Shu’s food from lumberjacks stayed in game, for an appropriate civ design.

yes, unfortunately all the garbage and insignificant version of the fish bonus went to the new civs. If at all your proposal of changing the 3K civs happens, I hope this doesn’t happen - all garbage units and bonuses moving to the new civs.

My ideal obviously would be remove heroes altogether along with 3k civs, but I also recognize that is very unrealistic to expect. I could personally live with an option that isn’t listed here of keep 3k civs but remove the heroes for them. I really don’t like the concept of heroes outside of campaigns.
