Now we already know the campaign format of AOE4. Instead of focusing on one character and event the campaign takes you through a prolonged event in history and introduces many iconic characters throughout the journey. That being said which campaign do you want to see the most in future DLC ?

  • Sengoku Jidai ( Japanese : Oda ######### Toyotomi Hideoshi, Tokugawa etc)
  • Komnenoian restoration (Byzantine : Isaac I Komnenos, Alexios Komnenos, Andronikos Komnenos)
  • Rise of the Ottomans ( Ottoman: Osman I, Murad, Mehmed, Beyazid, Suleiman etc)
  • Imjin war (Korean, Chinese : Yi Sun-Sin, Gwon Yul, Won Gyun, Sin rip)
  • Genpei war (Japanese : Minamoto no Yorimoto, Minamoto no Yoshinaka, Taira no Koremori)
  • The Crusades ( French, Briton, HRE : Raymond, Godfrey, Bohemond, Baldwin, Federick Barbarossa, Richard Lionheart)
  • Reconquista ( Spanish : El Cid, Isabella I, Ferdinand etc)
  • Sultans of Delhi ( Delhi sultanate : Muhammad of Ghor, Qutubuddin Aybak, Razia Sultana, Iltumish, Ibrahim Lodi)
  • Age of Vikings ( Vikings : Ragnar, Erik the red, Ivar the boneless, Guthrum, Sweyn Forkbeard, ##### Harald Hardrada)
  • Red Turban Rebellion ( Chinese : Zhu Yuanzhang, Zhu Liangzi , Hu Mei)

I think, that it was clear from begining, that AoE 4 does not use the AoE 2 campaign format with single character as protagonist.

I would say, that AoE4 campaigns focus on multiple “events” - for example The Rise of Moscow.
A hypothetical AoE4 japanese campaign could contain parts from Sengoku Jidai, Genpei War, The Mongol Invasion of Japan, The Japanese invasion of Korea (mentioned Imjin War, even though the Japanese lost)

In the case of Byzantines, the Komnenoian restoration could be one part of the campaign.

And with Japanise and Byzantine campaigns in AoE4, I am afraid, we “missed the train” with Sultan Ascend Expansion

I consider the Viking campaign and Ottoman campaign as the best choices, aside of their roles in history, these civilisations do not have own campaign in AoE2 or AoE3
