[Poll] New Byzantine monastery to Bulgarians and Goths

First, I want to express my appreciation for the new assets, especially the new castles. The new monasteries are also great, I love the Ethiopian and the Byzantine ones.
I think the Byzantine monastery could be given to Bulgarians (look at Batchkovo monastery) and Goths (it would fit the castle and their geographic extension in the middle ages). What do you think?

  • Give Byzantine monastery to Bulgarians
  • Give Byzantine monastery to the Goths
  • Neither

The new castles and mpnasteries made the lack of architecture sets a worse problem somehow.

The Bulgarian and Goth castle just look sooo mediterranean

A Balkan/Byzantine set, a Chinese set and a Nomad set are critical now.

I think Bulgarians could use both but the byzantine one wouldn’t fit the rest of the architecture.
Goths should have it and get the Mediterranean set.

Byzantine monastery fit well in the Mediterranean architecture. Romans and Sicilians gain him and it’s good because it fit more for the roman than the italian like monastery. For the Sicilian it reflect the byzantine influence, it’s good.

The gothic castle fit very well with the byzantine monastery.
The problem is that the byzantine monastery don’t fit with the central and eastern european architectural set.

Swith bulgarian to mediterranean architectural set or create a byzantine architectural set

With the new bulgarian castle who look like the byzantine castle and the byzantine monastery I think it’s better to swith the bulgarian to the mediterranean architectural set. The krepost fit good in the mediterranean architectural set.

We need a byzantine set for byzantine, bulgarian, armenian and georgian.

An andean architectural set for the incas because the mesoamerican set do not fit with the inca building. Maybe in a andean DLC.

A chinese set because the actual east asian set look too many japanese. For the chinese, korean, vietnamese, jurchen. Also for mongol and khitan (see below)

Nomad set ? No chinese set with yurt reskin for the house

For a nomad set the problem is that the mongol and khitan building were inspired by the chinese architecture. Also the castle of this two civilization look chinese. Maybe if we just reskin the mongolian house in yurt.

Mongol and khitan : Chinese architectural set with yurt skin for the house. Pasture instead of farm.

Western nomad set

The cuman have central asian architecture and this fit very bad. Maybe a western architectural set who are not influenced by the chinese architecture like the mongol and the khitan. Cuman and Huns castles look very similar and the two were nomadic civilization. Pasture instead of farm.

Also we give central asian architecture for the persian and we have two civilization with this architecture (Persians and Tatars)

A late antiquity early middle age set for the roman, the goth and upcoming civilization.

Goth castle are wonderful (inspired by Church of San Juan Bautista, Baños de Cerrato), he fit well in the period and look good next to the byzantine monastery. For the roman mediterranean architectural set it’s good in feudal age but bad in castle age and imperial age with the Ghibelline merlons and Pointed arch in the stable it’s very inaccurate.

In this period many barbarian people reuse old roman building and fortification so a new architectural set inspired late roman building/early medieval church from the Wisigoth and byzantine church in Italy like Ravenna church ( Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in Classe).

Maybe if we release a barbarian invasion DLC with vandal, suebi with roman campaign and Clovis campaign.

Viking architectural set

A set only for the viking because the central european set look bad for them.

I get the feeling adding new monastery skins confirmed we are not getting anymore complete building sets.

We probably are getting new ones eventually (after all, Cronicles added two) but this is def saying that it wont be any soon

I hope that if Oceania civs are ever added (despite what people say, they’re plausible additions), I hope that they come with a new set, since none of the existing sets fit them, not even in a pretend way like the Georgians and Armenians.

I believe that the design of Goths should aim for Crimean Goths, which is the longest-lasting Gothic State.

And for that, it would be better to make the Goths’ architectural style Byzantine.

I agree with the conclusion, even if to me, it is because of Gothics Kingdoms in Italy, France and Spain.

Goths should have what ever vikings have ingame.

BlockquoteIn 1434, the Council of Basel became the stage for a unique dispute between Sweden and Spain over their Gothic heritage. The Swedes, represented by Nicolaus Ragvaldi, a bishop from the Diocese of Växjö, asserted that they were the true descendants of the Goths. Ragvaldi claimed that the people of Västergötland (Westrogothia) were the Visigoths, and those from Östergötland (Ostrogothia) were the Ostrogoths. This assertion was rooted in the belief that the Goths had originated from Scandinavia before migrating southward. The Swedes argued that their direct lineage from these ancient tribes made them more deserving of higher honors and recognition.
On the other hand, the Spanish delegation countered this claim by arguing that only the “lazy” and “unenterprising” Goths had remained in Scandinavia. They contended that the truly heroic Goths had left their homeland, ventured into the Roman Empire, and eventually settled in Spain. This migration and subsequent conquest of the Iberian Peninsula by the Visigoths were seen as acts of bravery and valor, making the Spanish more deserving of Gothic honors. This debate over Gothic heritage was not just about historical lineage but also about national pride and the desire for recognition on the international stage.

Goths & Romans should get a new roman set :

  • Feudal age : roman buildings look half-ruined, with some crude repairs
  • Castle age : buildings are properly restored to a late roman style
  • Imperial age : affected buildings get more ornate

Isnt this byzantine buildings?

I personally dont want goths to get a new building set as they are the stand in for saxons and other german civis.

I’d have a different design for Byzantines (shared with Bulgarians Armenians and Georgians), portraying medieval byzantine architecture while Romans would be reverting the decline to stabilise in the 4th and 5th centuries. Possibly some callbacks to earlier centuries : an Empire that survived the fall.

That would be secondary for them, being a placeholder for Anglo-Saxons comes after the Ostrogothic and Visigothic Kingdoms, in which they took over the local administration without changing much (not that they had the numbers to do much if they wanted anyway). If need be you can give them another style in custom scenarios.

Even then, roman buildings kept being used for a while in Britain.

But as the 3K opened a precedent for an Invasions DLC, you could add Vandals, Anglo-Saxons and others as proper civs.
