I’m
I’m talking about the actual lists of Pharaohs in history. Not some poorly made list in the original AOM. There’s a Steve in there, and Cambyses for heaven’s sake. Also Ptolomy - HAHA. Might as well listed Lobotomy.
Great Royal Wives were the Queens who were spouses of Pharaohs, not ruling Pharaohs.
But let’s be realistic, they won’t add several hundred different names to the list.
I know what is the great Royal Wife title, thank you. Some of them actually co-led the kingdom and/or acted as regent or even became pharaoh themselves following their spouse’s death.
My point is the “some” is a tiny number from the list of hundreds of male pharaohs. Hence it is not reasonable to add them as a variant of the Pharaoh hero unit in the main game.
Hold up, are you arguing that making a variant of an existing model is more work than rebalancing the entire Egyptian civ around the addition of a second major civ hero?
What even is your argument here? Because you pivoted real quick once it was pointed out that making the female Pharoah variant would cost less than a day’s work and no real resource investment.
This isn’t a history simulator. There’s 68 names on the list for the Pharaoh. Among them, there are female names.
Would you rather a female Pharaoh or some canonically trans women Pharaohs? Because that’s the implication as it is now.

But you still want the exact same variant to be available exclusively in the scenario editor. How does that even makes sense?
Sure why not, they could implement it in a way similar to the explorer’s in age of empires 3. A choice of visuals for the pharaohs. I would also be cool if the priests worked in a similar way.

I’m not big on forced gender equality in historical video games, but on the basis that there were some female pharaohs I have no problem with the unit having random gender like villagers now do. There are historical names to draw from, and a bunch of other random Egyptian female names can be thrown in as well.
I doubt it will happen at release but I don’t think it would be a bad change if it did.

And a female Son of Osiris.
Or we should request Scythian civ with many female warriors

That’d be a good place to introduce a proper Native American civ, like the Lakota, Inuit, or Haida.
