Just split the DLC into 3 Kingdoms and a separate one which includes only Jurchen and Khitans.
And make the second DLC cheaper as it doesn’t have any campaigns.
They originally advertised Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings with the phrase “Rome has fallen and the world is up for grabs,” so no civilization before 476 should have been added.
Also Romans itself should never have been a ranked Medieval civs. I hope it gets changed to Chronicles style or become as suggested Late Antiquity. Late Antiquity itself has huge potential. Imagine Sassanids, Tangs, Rashiduns-Umayyads, Goths, Huns, Late Romans in its own civ brackets. They themselves have unique UU drips to cover.
It does make sense to have all relevant and fitting civilizations in their respective game modes according to their location in time, as it is immersion breaking to have everything mixed up.
On the second thought, 3K civs should be added to RoR ranked. They still lack uniqueness than other Chronicle civs, no unique architecture arts, no totally independent unit lines.
Since they were emerged into AoE2, it won’t be difficult to add some.
AoE4 was a game without any hero unit before Jean’d Arc and so does AoE2 before 3K civs.
If they added 3K civs to RoR:
Timeframe - fitted
Art design - fitted
Ranked Game - fitted
Well, the Attila campaign begun at circa 435 AD and it is considered as canonical one. Later, 2 years ago, (Western) Roman Empire playable civ was added. It does not suit what u’ve written above.
IMHO, there is no significant difference between Hunnic and Cuman tech tree historically.
Yes move the 3K to Chronicles. And release a later and separate DLC splitting the Khitans to Khitans and Tanguts, adding Tibetans and maybe something more from the sino-sphere. Make the DLC contain campaigns for Chinese, Khitans, Tanguts, Tibetans and Koreans. Instant buy from me for both these DLCs from me. As of now I have returned my pre-order and am not planning on buying the content.
the dev team have zero respect for the game and history in general. this clown show needs to be booted out and get some people who care about the core game. its such an easy path to see when it comes to keeping the game pure.
they simply want to ruin it to combine all the gimmick elements they feel will bring more new players. boycott of this dlc is important to send a clear message.
they ignore every bit of feedback from this forum which provides also great civ designs/ideas. they dont give a damn. cysion is total let down and needs to go.
Its the one two punch: They are not civs, even the game’s promo website calls them ‘‘Forces’’. And the heroes, which go against the core design of aoe2.
