I was exaggerating in my original comment, but I looked into it and they’re definitely overrepresented.
There are ~171 Euro land treasures and 81 are gold/XP (4 also give wood as well as coin) not including trickles. That’s nearly 50% of all the treasures. Obviously there’s more to treasure distribution than the entire pool of available treasures, but the basic resource treasures are for the most part shared across maps so I don’t imagine there’d be a huge deviation. Across all treasures, gold/XP ones are ~1/3rd of the total so the Euro ones do have less variety by comparison.
If you look at it that way it should be 81/118 of the “AdjustResource” type treasures give 2 out of the 4 resources. That’s still very disproportionate.
If you want to be more generous and count the livestock ones as a food treasure with extra steps and include the trickles. The breakdown of available treasures is like 45% gold/XP, 25% food/wood, and 30% techs/units (and a few of these techs look like they’re historical maps only).
Depending on how treasures spawn I don’t think it’s unreasonable that you might see 60% of the treasures being gold/XP which can get a little repetitive.
While you are already talking about ressource treasures:
Can one of u guys tell me if trickles stack? Some maps like horn have multiple wood trickles and i never know if its worth to get a second one, at first glance it looked like they werent stacking
Yes, it’s just that they should have been like historical 4v4 battles… also, the conflicts of the mid-18th century were missing (the Wars of Succession, the Silesian War, the Seven Years’ War, and the French Revolutionary Wars), which we were hoping they would include in the Baltic DLC…
The exact same trickle treasure cannot stack because they’re techs and once active, it cannot be activated a second time. Getting a second of the same treasure is simply denying it for your opponent.
You’re lumping all those treasures in too? Have you considered the various tiers of treasures and which maps they spawn on? How many maps each one spawns on, etc?
Yes, and if anything that skews the numbers even worse. The “AdjustResource” ones are common to most maps and most of them are difficulty 1-4 which would be most treasure placements unless you did something really different for treasure placements.
I’m assuming “WestNapoleon” is a historical map? There’s an XP and a gold one unique to that and a gold one unique to “mediTurkishWar” and a few tech treasures that are only on lost or historical maps, otherwise nearly everything appears on at least one normal map.
The maps are encrypted so it’s not possible to see what tiers each map uses.
Overall it’s not a huge deal if there’s a bias to gold/XP treasures, it just makes those maps play a little different.
Personally I find wood or food treasures to be more impactful in age 1 or 2 when you’re most focused on treasures and XP treasures have a diminishing impact if you get them later on. But others might prefer more gold/xp for different strategies and like to have more of those treasures available.
