I think it’s always beneficial to look forward to the future potential, especially to get the 3K out of our minds.
Let’s also help the devs and let them know which civs and region you would like next in Aoe2. Africa has the most potential, but also Europe and Asia have some white spots.
Not everyone sees this game as a pre competitive 1v1 game.
There is more to the game then “matchups”.
Also I don’t think it’s that hard to learn like 4 new civilisations per year. That is like 3 months of training time per civilisation.
Most people grow bored of the existing civilisations after a while. And again not everyone plays competitive 1v1. So small balance changes don’t change the gameplay experience of casual players, only larger changes like new civilisations do.
You’re not thinking strategically enough. More civs = it may decrease the % of civs with hand cannoneers that can beat the janissary. Provided none of the new ones get a strong bonus for the HC of course
I guess now is good a time to point out to the devs we hate there hasn’t been a new architecture set since DE. 15 new civs, 30% of all civs, and not a single extra architecture set. The math would suggest we should have 4 to 5 additional sets (4.7 sets) by now. I don’t need new sets for the sake of new sets when old sets are perfectly representative. But georgians and portuguese both in the mediterranean set, teutons and huns both in the central european, and 10 civs in east asian using japanese architecture seems sub optimal. tho three of those civs shouldn’t even exist so…
