Pro Scout

It’s either that or FC. Feudal aggression with pro scouts is redundant because aggression gives map control, this lets you go directly to the hunts rather than needing to invest into pro scouts.

In any case, if Pro Scout becomes an essential strategy in each game, you can weaken it by reducing the number of villagers who can pick up a deer (currently 8), since the food will be stored away without being used.

Personally, I think that having bonus deer in their collection by Aachen Chapel or deer supervised by the Chinese officer is an abuse, these civilizations should have fewer villagers picking up a deer.

How should the rebalancing of professional explorers be?

-move the technology to the town center to turn it into a trade off of villagers?
-make the deer killed by scouts give less food?
-or just increase the cost of scouts?

(whatever it is I think the nerf should be less for rus, since it makes sense for them to use it).

What about making it a castle age tech?

It would make deer a vulnerable resource during feudal, and a heavy resource investment into FC + tech would be easier to punish. It would still have decent timing to keep a player from going into a farm transition, and would still enable a more defensive playstyle.

I don’t think they should change pro scout. I think it’s a very good technology and it adds dynamism to the game. I agree with @HasanIchess when he says it’s an alternative against 2TC. Any adjustments they make have to be very fine so as not to make this technology useless again.

Only way to balance is removing this tech completely.Let the deer be gatherable where it is.

Maybe this tech makes scouts really pro scouts so can scouts gather meet of deers at the 1/2 speed of villager berry bush gather rate and it can be improved with food gather techs.And scouts will be like lodya fishing ships they will not need a drop off point.

At least the pro scout is an answer to the 2TC, hopefully they don’t weaken it that much

Pro scout reduce the deer carcass food by 50 food. Heck reduce by 75 food might be just on the edge of too much?

if it goes even slower when carrying the carcass, that’s good enough. The further away the carcass is, the slower he should carry it or It should stop to rest lol.

pro scout not only answered but also destroyed 2TC gameplay in solo. According to aoe4world ranking, Abbasid is now the bottommost (16th) civ in Diamond and Conqueror level at this moment.

It was a good change. The scout moves at a speed of 1.625 tiles/second, with the 40% penalty carrying the carcass it will move at 0.975 tiles/second. Maybe it will be enough for the spearmen to reach the scout, I will test it later.

In any game where someone goes pro scouts 1 or 2 spears now holds a hunt down. It’s a fair trade in resources, and it keeps the game competitive. It’s a good change from my own experiences.

I really don’t think pro scout is too strong, i think its just a trend. I like when my opponent goes pro scout because it feels like it gives me a big advantage (except if they play a knight civs).

Go check the replay of this game if you’re interested, destroyed an opponent that has 100 higher rank points than me, he went pro scout I didn’t go pro scout at all. Game ended relatively quickly, I had better army, all the relics, and his deer were pointless without any access to gold.

This specific match is against China, which is supposed to be OP with pro scout because of supervise…

Doesn’t work against knight civs, but it works against any other civs. Pro scout gives a big advantage to French, Mongol and Rus, but with any other civ that don’t have access to knight, its quite simple to counter.

Maybe we can argue that Japan is just very good at countering pro scout, especially after the patch, Japan has insane power spike when they just reach castle, and pro-scout makes the opponent weaker exactly at that same timing. But I also play a lot of ayyubid in quickmatch and they seem also very good against pro scout. I’m sure there are other civs that don’t need to rely on pro scout either, I’m thinking maybe english (cheap farms), delhi (sacred sites / berries), ottoman (with sheep vizier).

Summary of the game:
Went for Uma bannerman first + the level 2 berry/wheelbarrow tech (for good food income on both farm and berries).
With uma, harass gold and kill scouts near his base.
While he struggle going castle because of gold, I go castle and make like 4 barracks (which are so cheap post-patch).
Then when i reach castle, i attack his base with samourai, dive under TC and under bbq (made sure to have arrow armor upgrade), kill some villagers while collecting relics. He killed most of my army but cause enough damage and idle time to be worth it.
Then we ended up to a point where he was struggling with gold and couldnt go out of his base, because my production and villagers was much better, so i could replenish my army much faster.
Meanwhile I was free to go take deer and berries outside my base, while I had access to all relics and all sacred sites. He didn’t even manage to steal my deers.

I like idea B, and also if they will reduce the maximum number of villagers that can gather deer food at a time from 8 to 6 or 5

If the meat starts to decompose, wouldn’t it solve the problem of storing a bunch of carcasses?

Need nerf asap, the 25 resources nerf is a joke, and they buff pro scouts with train time talk about crazy
its used every game

Carcass decompose would lead to all kind of other problems like players killing all deer at the start of the game which isn’t really fun. They removed the rus mini-game to avoid turning the game into mass wasteful butchering of animals.

I’m not against the idea of having more deers but reducing their food content, but just slowing down scouts carrying carcass would have similar effect. Those are simple solution that don’t affect the whole game.

That being said, i really think pro scout is more of a trend for 80% of civs (its very good with knights civs, and a few other, but its not that good with many civs). when people get over the trend, people wont think its that good anymore.
