Random Crash to Desktop; 1 in ~5 ranked team games

Issue: Team Game crashes out randomly

See below for sequence of events. The crash doesn’t happen frequently, but it really sucks when it does.

Edit: crash to desktop happens once every ~5 ranked team matches

Trigger Event: Play a game, Random crash

I was ~1 hr into a 2v2 ranked match (4/7/2026), when aoe4 just crashed out to Windows.

Edit: I played a 3v3 ranked match (4/9/2026), where the opponent experienced a crash.

I played a 2v2 ranked match (4/9/2026), where my ally crashed to windows. In this case, we noticed some lag.

Repro Steps: play a team game, random crash

  1. Play game
  2. Crash
  3. If you don’t log back into the game, your units still are “in game”
    1. once you boot up AOE4, then you “resign”
