:arrow_forward: ISSUE EXPERIENCED

 DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.
There is an error when trasnfering Random Maps in Multiplayer.

I noted that the Random Map transfer occurs only when all players had set “ready” and the loading map screen is shown. But it is at this moment that players (not the host) get their game crashed or sometimes an error showing: “MAP TRANSFER ERROR”.

:arrow_forward: FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

 How often does the issue occur? CHOSE ONE; DELETE THE REST!

  • 100% of the matches we TRY to play for the first time (ALWAYS)

This does not happen to the Host, because he is the one sharing the Random Map.

:arrow_forward: REPRODUCTION STEPS

 List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

(Having a random map already installed in your Random Maps directory)

  1. Enter Multiplayer Mode
  2. Host a Casual Game
  3. Choose the Random Map of your preference (that other players don’t have)
  4. Start the game
  5. Players should experience a game crash or in some cases a message saying “MAP TRANSFER ERROR”

:arrow_forward: EXPECTED RESULT

 What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?

  • Players should be able to play the Random Map as usual as any other random Map.

== I think this can be fixed if Random Map transfer starts before everyone sets ready in Lobby, as it is currently with the scenarios. ==
Because I noted that on the second try of playing the map (Random Map Files already transferred) it works perfectly fine.

I’ve posted about this issue before. If the other player hosts then you’ll likely be able to play. Or at least from my experience this is what happens.

Ye but, still a bug. It needs to be solved.

Never said it wasn’t a bug. Just sharing what I know and hoping devs read it.

This issue is currently being tracked by our team. Thanks for the reports!

Thanks, guys. Maybe you should put attention to the mod section too. We cant play campaigns, scenarios, or maps directly from there as it is with AOE2 DE.

Is there any update on the issue of not being able to play custom maps online?

you can, using a mod

How is it possible using a mod? Do the other players have to download it manually or will they download it automatically when they join the lobby?

Have to also have the mod installed. It’s not ideal, but you can play custom maps this way.

Also, they’ve made it so you don’t have to uninstall the mod to play ranked or browse casual games. The situation is slowly improving . . .

Thx,

I was hoping I would be able to host my own map and play it with random players. Hopefully they will fix it soon.
