Ranked civ selection not working when game is in countdown

When playing ranked multiplayer in any variant, as soon as the game begins the countdown I can’t access the civilisation screen. This only happens during the lobby, not once the one-minute countdown starts. I know this has been an issue for a while and I usually can select “ready up” and then remove it, which reverts the game to normal. However, last week it started happening permanently. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, updating my TV, controller and Xbox, and even going back to default settings, changing my in-game profile picture and nothing works. This problem occurs every game, making it impossible to select civilisations for the map type.

  2. Go on ranked multiplayer

  3. Wait for a match to be found and the game countdown to begin
