This has been going on for 2 years and is still not fixed.
This is one of my accounts, I lost 5 points within a week. Then I played another game yesterday and checked today, bang, another 5 points gone. It’s super annoying, especially at the end of the season.

I’ve checked many, many accounts that don’t decay for 15 days, and I’ve found some accounts that support your theory.
However, we don’t have a clear explanation for this system.
And let’s say your theory is true, why did I still lose 5 points after playing a game yesterday? I was 1628 yesterday, now it’s 1623…

I didn’t know that mechanism existed.
It should be made official and explained, otherwise people won’t even know about it. There are even doubts if one loses more points due to loss of wonder, sacred sites or if one surrenders while the counter of another type of victory reaches 0.
A few weeks ago I won a ranked team match and then I lost another team match and went back to Gold III. How is it possible? I have a suspicion that I lost too many points in that second one but it wasn’t to get me down to Gold III. Do they also take points away from Silver for inactivity? It’s a curiosity, I’m going to take screenshots to confirm it.
Same here. Apparently my account started decaying in solo ranked right when your account started to decay.
According to the support documents decay should start after two weeks of inactivity. I played the last two weeks, so I shouldn’t have any decay.

Interestingly I had team rank decay before solo rank decay started. My last team ranked game brought me to 1641 points 12 days ago. Yet still I’m now already at 1586 points and I keep losing 5 points every day.
Two days ago it started on solo ranked. I should have 1524 pts after my last game, but the mechanism took 10 points so far and will keep doing this until the end of the season, unless the support fixes something.
My friends >1400 pts all have the same issue of rank decay in team ranked, even though we keep playing.
When I reach out to support all they tell me is connect your steam account to xbox live, this will stop it (it did not).
Plus they reassure me they won’t be able to give the points back they took without a reason.
I don’t mind developers taking points from me when inactive, but the fact this issue keeps occuring at the end of EVERY season is mildly infuriating. Is it that hard to find the problem? And when you are able to subtract points for being inactive, when a player clearly played games and got points subtracted, why is it so hard to refund those points back??

Yet still from what I’ve seen only accounts above 1400 pts get points subtracted by rank decay and it stops at 1400 pts, not at platinum as described in the document.
Now even my main account decays, crazy stuff.

I’ve had the same issue in previous seasons, and have reported it multiple times:
Have they refunded your points or reset your decay?
They haven’t, no. I think this bug just isn’t being prioritized. Or perhaps it’s a complicated fix. Who knows!

Yep i am having same problem. Played 4 days ago… Was 1555 MMR in solo ranked. Looked today and I am 1535. I am sorry for being negative, but this sucks!!!
What’s the point in me playing if I just lose points everyday…
