Red Bull Wololo: El Reinado would be a perfect time to release a Spanish civilization

As the title says, Red Bull Wololo: El Reinado would provide the perfect oppurtunity to release a Spanish civlization. Once the aoe4 section is finished, play a gameplay trailer, release the civ the next day.

I’d rather not have spain.

Imagine a combo Spain + Portugal DLC

When I read this, the Spanish theme from Pirates of the Caribbean started playing in my head.

Yes, don’t rule it out, considering the gaps in Europe…I think that the dlc that they are going to announce in the RBW is between Scandinavia (Vikings/Union of Kalmar and Cholas in South India) and the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal or Aztecs)…

It could be Castille…

Or Spain and Aztecs as in AoE2 TC (combined European civ with non-European civ as until now)…

Too late, the image of El Cid or Cortes would have to appear in your head…

+Morocco civ

BTW. I think I would prefer Spain and Portugal to be included with another Mediterranean civ (Maghreb or Italian region). The American DLC should be a separate thing (Mesoamerica and the Andes as separate DLCs).

+1 DLC Kingdom of Castile, Kingdom of Aragon, Aztecs and Berbers, with 2 Campaigns La Reconquista and The fall of Tenochtitlán, new American maps and biomes, greetings.

Yeah I always thought Castille would suit best, not sure I’d like the later gunpowder focused Spain like in aoe2. Potentially that could be a variant for a later release with Aztecs. Might make for a good dlc.

I bet they would have an Aragon Variant civ.

I can imagine even 3 civ for Spain:

Castille

  • Unique Units: “Jinete”, Santiago Knight, Misionnary, Swordman, Tercio Arquebusier (IV), Galleon, Falconete.
  • Unique Technologies: “Juego de cañas”, Verdadera Destreza, Tercio Pike, Cuirass,

Although I can’t think of an economic bonus (I still require more research), perhaps they can be like the Holy Roman Empire and revolve around capturing relics, religion and obtaining gold. Its unique units expected from Imperial are too well known to not include them: Espadachin/“Swordman” replacing the men-at-arm, Tercio Arquebusier replacing the handcannoner.

To create the Tercio Pikeman they could have two technologies unique to the Spearman in Imperial Age: 1.- Tercio Pike.- that gives them a Pike 2.- Coraza.- gives them more armor. 3.- otherwise “Heavy Pikeman” that gives them Both bonusses. This Pikeman thing is necessary in this way, because historically Spain only adapted pikemen after copying the model of Switzerland and the HRE around 1500 A.D onwards (In fact I also have an idea to give pikemen to the HRE, but I will share it later).

Jinete as replace of the Horseman, Santiago/Calatrava Knights as unique “extra” units from Landmarks, i suppose can be choosen with tecnologies as Zhu Xi Imperial Guard (Choose between military religious orders). Falconet replaces Bombard, with more speed and damage aggainst infantry, but less damage aggainst buildings. Missionary can bost attack or attack speed, armor, of units with the ability “Santiago”, or as a passive bonus, wathever fits better the balance. Galleon as a unique War Ship.

Aragon

  • Unique Units: Almogavar warrior, Almogavar skirmisher, High Captain, Inquisitor
  • Shared: Jinete, Swordman, Tercio Arquebusier, Galleon, Falconete.

Castile variant, with another set of Landmarks, and some different units. They do not have a spearman, the Almogavar warrior replaces them. Also, they have Almogavar Skirmisher, who is an anti-range units. The Almogavars can become invisible for 35 seconds with the “skirmishers” technology. The High Captain (as Pedro de Aragon) would act as a General, something like the English King or Khan, and would be unlocked by a Castle Age Landmark. They would have a different set of Landmarks than Castile, mainly some from NAPLES, or SICILY which are places they conquered. Inquisitors as a unique religious unit, since it originated in Aragon and was strongest there.

Conquerors / “Conquistadores”

  • Unique Units: “Conquistador” (Hero), War Dog, “Coracero”
  • Shared: Jinete, Swordman, Missionary, Tercio Arquebusier, Galleon, Falconete.

Variant of Castile (yes, another), would represent Spain in its version of the conquering army of America: That is, “No tercios.” It would have the particularity of being a “Mercenary” civ, being able to recruit unique units from the new world, Aztecs, Mayans, Incas, Mapuches, and even variants such as Tlaxcala (Azt) and Pipil (Mayans), and some from Europe, such as Genoese Ballesteros or HRE’s Landsknecht.

It would have a hero: Spanish Conquistador, who, similar to JoanDArc, would have skills and improvements. As a default, they would lose many of the Civ’s original economic bonuses, and are dependent on the Scout. New set of Landmarks such as “First Temple”, “House of the Viceroy”. “Universidad Hispanoamérica”. Finally, as unique units, the war dog, as a summoned unit of the conqueror, and the cuirassier as a replacement for the Knight, with something less armor (4/4 in Elite) but more speed (1.75), and the escaupil technology that gives +10 or +15 HP to infantry.

I don’t think they are going to make so many variants of Spain…for me it will be a single civ (Spain) with at least 5 UUs: Conquistador, Missionary (that come from AoE 2), the Almogavar Warrior (replacing the MAA), the War Dog and the Coracero (replacing the Knight or the Knight of Santiago) that come from AoE 3… the Tercio would be a unique improvement to the Spearman and the Galleon a unique improvement to the Carrack…

I think that the dlc that they are going to announce in the RBW is between Scandinavia (Vikings/Union of Kalmar and Cholas in South India) and the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal or Aztecs)…
