I received an email stating I requested a refund for the game but I never made such a request. What is the reason for this? I’m fine waiting longer for the game to come out I don’t think there was a reason to do that. 
same here. Perhaps it was connected to the Beta invite I got a few days later?

Nope, all pre order have been refunded. And the beta invite you got later is only luck and not connected … AS I DIDN’T RECEIVED ANYTHING

Microsoft doesn’t charge immediately for pre orders until its near the release date. Since it has been delayed and people were charged it was refunded, unless it was pre ordered with a account balance then it charged immediately.

Same here. My pre-order was also refunded, though I didn’t request this.
As @Mesowhite said, I guess it is because of the change of release date. Their policy must prevent them from charging for a game so far in advance of the release date.
