We can discuss this in many ways but I think Relic and World’s Edge failed with this game. The definitive editions are much better. I Hope they’ll take some lessons from this Launch.
I expecy for the next game:
A true graphic Evolution
A world map campaign
More vivid world
New gameplay modes
More unique units and civilizations

I don’t have much faith in the next iteration, if we get one.
First you have to wait for the game to finish, then we’ll see.
You could add all of the DLC and patches we want to see but It’s not going to change the main perception of this game. Adding deeper changes (likes dynamic map like Total war, new modes, Better graphic, realistic biomas and more) would take too much time and in the meantimes other RTS will be available for the players.
At this point It would be better to wait another AOE
Unfortunately this is the point I’ve reached too, I can only hope the failure of this game doesn’t kill any chances for another age game.
I hear they’re probably working on a AOM DE, which is cool, but I still feel like I’ve been cheated out of what should’ve been the best iteration of the series
I prefer not to have that negative and apocalyptic mentality. Mods will do a lot of good things for the game.
Perhaps it is directly that you have never liked the artistic style, against that little can be done.
