You can pick random civs as you like. I won’t. I will quit every game which is random civ for all, just because YOU want to pick a random civ does not mean I want to.
Make an opt-out from random. Let them play random if they want, but leave me my fav civ.
“You can pick civs as you like. I won’t. I will quit every game which is picking civ for all, just because YOU want to pick a civ does not mean I want to”.
“Make an opt-out from picking. Let them play picking if they want, but leave me my random civ.”
See? Same, no?
Well with all due respect; random should be the priority even in 1v1, not the civ picker, let’s see what you can do without your build order with specific civ.
No, it’s not the same at all. Most obviously because if the majority chooses civ pick you’re still perfectly able to pick random yourself. If the majority chooses random, though, there’s no way to exempt yourself and choose civ anyway as there is when the shoe is on the other foot.
Well, I think it’s fair to say that, in ranked matches, almost nobody wants to play random civ. What people really want is to play against random civ opponents, and the only way to achieve that is to indicate the willingness to play random themselves.
And with that mindset, one could make an argument for the current rule (all random when majority votes for it).
Yeah, that’s a fair take, I was just responding to the person who literally suggested they are unable to pick a random civ if their opponent doesn’t allow them to. It just seemed like an absurd comparison.
Back on voobly you would get ur self banned from 99.99% of all lobbies. Yes, you would be an outcast. And the fact you want to “quit” cause others dont play your wises just shows where you really belong in a society. Gl hf!
Only in tournament, not for the majority
There are civs get countered hard by another civ , and some civs get huge advantage over others on a specific map.
IMO, people should get the same civ(mirror) if both of them have to random in 1v1
I don’t want to force other people to do anything, but I don’t want to be forced either or I will just quit.
On the other hand, people are allowed to quit anytime even though the majority refused to team surrender. The team random will never hold me hostage unless they fix the early resign that is not approved by team
Wow. “Society”. That’s a word not to be thrown around lightly. Ever heard of “peer pressure”?
So in a society, where everybody jumps the cliff, but I won’t, it shows me, where I do belong?
Where do I belong though?
In a society, where 5 out of 10 pedestrians usually ignore redlight when crossing the street, where do those “belong” who don’t?
In a society where 20 students bully someone in their class and only one other doesn’t, shows you where he belongs?
In a german society of 1942, …I won’t finish that sentence for you.
I’m sorry, but this is totally silly. We can also test to see if you can scoop up all the sand in a beach with a toothpick, or memorize the multiplication table of 1023 upto a million values.
The question isn’t about skill, it’s about enjoyment. And that’s totally subjective. You want random? fine, go ahead. You want to pick your civ? totally fine. You want to force me to play random? (which is the same as picking a civ I don’t want) Now we have a problem. Because that affects my enjoyment of the game. And you don’t get to decide how I enjoy the game.
I agree with StrykerTheElite’s perspective on using the “Force random” feature in game matches. It makes sense for higher Elo players to use this feature as they are more experienced and can adapt to any civilization they are given. In high Elo games, the random element can add excitement and challenge to the match.
On the other hand, for low to mid-range Elo players, it might be more beneficial to pick a specific civilization to play with, as they might not have enough experience to handle the strengths and weaknesses of different civilizations. This way, they can focus on improving their skills and understanding the strategies of a particular civilization.
In tournaments, it’s understandable that certain civilizations may be banned to ensure a more balanced playing field. However, tournament organizers can always set specific rules to cater to different levels of players, such as allowing a mix of random and chosen civilizations for different stages of the competition.
I do not agree. Random civ is challenging. But I disagree that some lobbies kick you because you chose civ and it was even not written in the title.
Would be better to add an option “random civ” in the lobies to be filled by the host.
In competitive games, I like the fact that if you don’t pick a civ in 1V1, the opponent must be also random civ. But let’s be honnest, when you pick a civ and if you are less than 1500 elo, you get your civ in 95% of the case in competitive.
Civ pickers and noobs should be given a halfway option of “Random Civ type”, meaning they can select a category instead of a civ, like Random Knight civ, Random Archer Civ, Random Meso civ, Random Monk/Siege/Infantry civ, Random Elephant Civ, Random Camel civ etc. That way they can still do their beloved FC knights or Scouts into Knights strat without worrying that they’re going to random Incas or Dravidians etc.
Alternatively on the Select Civilisation screen there could be the option to select “Random Civ, except…” and then you would just ban the civs you don’t want to make sure you don’t get a really bad civ or a civ you hate.
