Renaming and splitting the Saracens

We have throwing swords axes spears from horseback so next throwing weapon would be a mace.

Woulda fit Armenians since people claimed they threw Gurz which was Armenian for Mace but is a mistranslation f their word for Javelin

Made a symbol for Egyptians: mamluk shield with a white Hand of Fatima (ancestor of the Fatimid Dynasty) on a yellow field (colour of Ayyubids and the Mamluk Sultanate).

edit: and here are Andalusians, with the coat of arms of the Emirate of Grenada

I don’t think adding Mamelukes would be good since the current Saracens actually represent Abbasids/Mamelukes/Ayyubids.

If there will be a splitting in the future (but of course I give adding new African civs a priority) but in case that splitiing Saracens gonna happen then adding Al-Andalus is high priority since you can’t simply ignoring 800 years of Islamic history in Iberian peninsula.

Also there should be a major attention for the early Saracens expansion undet the Rashidun and the Umayyads.

I don’t want a civ called “Mamelukes” either but since we are getting “Varangians”, I suspect it might be more likely than separate Syrians and Egyptians (as much as I like the concepts I came up with).

Btw, I also want to rename the “Mameluke” unit to “Jambiya Raider” and introduce another unit called “Mamluk” as a Scout line alternate upgrade for some of the MENA civs. Jambiya is a south Arabian (Yemeni) dagger that can be sometimes thrown, so it’s a more fitting name for the unit that rides a camel and throws scimitars.

I know some people don’t even want renames (that’s probably why the Saxon UU has the unwieldy “Hearth Trooper” name, because devs are too afraid to rename the existing Huskarl to something more fitting), but personally I don’t mind them, and as I mention in the intro to my document, people should be allowed to revert to a previous patch on Steam if they like an old design/name better.

I’d love to see a campaign focused on Khalid ibn al-Walid, the most famous commander in the early Muslim world. The dude was so remarkable the Caliph had to demote him and then force him into exile, because he was afraid the army would start worshipping Khalid instead of God.

yeah, i don’t understand this either. simple renames can easily be fixed with mods, while the major changes they DO impose on existing civs are non-optional
