Return of Rome DLC: Why not directly update AOE:DE instead?

I think RoR as AoE I in AoE II was a good idea a priori for all reasons cited before, but:

  • The marketing was really bad, at least in terms of long-term untiing the community (of AoE I) in one game. I understand Microsoft made more money this way, but I think they should have done the following: (i) advertise RoR massively in Vietnam; (ii) let people purchase RoR without purchasing AoE II DE; (iii) make it 75% cheaper for AoE I DE owners; (iv) announce a RoR-only tournament.
  • No ranked queue. It is actually incredible this does not exist, and it entirely killed competitive play.
  • They should let people choose their favourite graphics (AoE I or AoE II). Admittedly, this is more difficult, so I understand they did not actually do that.
  • They should add all AoE I DE campaigns into RoR.

The pathfinding, etc. in RoR are really good otherwise, but these key mistakes made it very unpopular, which is very sad to see…

By the way: @devs are you planning to add the other campaigns into RoR?

Yes, I agree…if they add new expansions for RoR, it would be a good option to have included AoE 1 in AoE 2…

I agree, I wouldn’t write better. Series of embarrassing bugs (not working lobbies and achievements, archers destroying buildings in seconds,…) last half year have been “only” secondary problem.
