Reviving the Forums & DE Release!

Hey guys,

I’m so excited that DE is finally coming out. Feels like just yesterday that June afternoon that I saw them announce the game and promptly ran here to register an account…
I hope the forums kick up in activity again. They’ve been pretty dead during the Beta, but I’m confident we’ll see this place pick up steam again. Hope to see you guys in some of the lobbies - my GT is AirmanerX - and I’m feeling stoked about getting some good conversation going here again (who doesn’t miss those farm arguments?). Hope to see you guys around

Wololo!

And, of course, congrats to the FE Team & MS - the road here was a little rocky but we made it.

Yeah! Same for the FE Team and Microsoft Studios for making this far, keep the good job and the AOE spirit on our hearts.

Even though I am getting the game later (due to some money issues), I will let my GT too: KingDarBoja

Let’s do our best to keep the game alive. Thank you FE for your hard work you have done a great job so far. Here’s hoping for a great year for AOE.

Posting so I can post my own topic.

The forums died because it was worthless to discuss. The devs did what they wanted, not what the community asked…that is the result…

Devs are probably under pressure themselves. There are budgets and resource limitations probably within the studio. However, it would be nice for them to acknowledge some of the posts and interact more with the community.

But people need to breathe and stop flaming them. It’s not productive.

Since its remaster no a real remake.

I would argue that DE is more of a remake then a remaster animations and overall art is redone for example. Compare this to AOE 2 HD which basically was a widescreen touchup with new water and other bonuses. AOE2 HD is a remaster that’s why i’m excited for AOE2 DE.

As a side note I’m certain that AOE2 DE will contain all the DLC released in AOE2:s lifespan (including HD).

The important here is gameplay.

A remake can have new gameplay, new unit scale, new skins, new ideas. And many things more.
No only 4K makeup.

Why do people care so much about unit scaling… It’s a 2D isometric game with boats that burn for 10,000 years and immortal men that can only be killed by immortals… The focus should be on easy identification I think. The things in AoE 2 are also not realistically scaled! Or in just about any other RTS for that matter

I prefer that scale, than original, breaks some immersion.

It’s not just a 4K make up they redid alot of the assets a 4K make up would litteraly be the games Classic mode converted into 4K, so basically a AOE1 4K edition similar to the AOE 2 HD edition which it isn’t. Also the game has new gameplay improvements:https://www.ageofempires.com/news/whats-new-age-empires-definitive-edition-2/

Also more improvements to come in the future: https://www.ageofempires.com/news/coming-content-updates-age-empires-definitive-edition/

New ideas will come in AOE4 as should be the case. Although I would argue some of these improvements are new ideas for this particular title.

Yeah I couldn’t want to play this game either. so much fun
