Its better to have high hp cavalry that husars, because cosacks take a lot of space in the map, maybe only half of them would fight inmediately, reducing highly their efecctivity

yes, a skirmisher doing about 45 to 50 damage vs ranged cavalry “easily” kills a 622 ranged cavalry. it takes a lot of skirmishers to take down tartars - not that skirmishers dont cost effectively and eventually counter them in big fights, but they are not “easily” taken down.

Cossacks are the most pop effective and 2nd or 3rd most upgradable cav in the game. they are extraordinarily powerful. anyone who tells you differently is lying or really bad at using cav

they dont bloody need buffs like that.

Russia is already a competitive civ in treaty, if you know what you are doing you can do a lot with the faction.

next patch grenadiers will get buffed which is a buff to Russia, so lets first see if that changes anything.

but as is russia is a good faction and one of the very best cavalry factions in the game, if you over rely on infantry as russia you are playing them wrong.

historically France was extremely populous and had for most of the periode a larger population than Russia.

Yeah I rechecked, you are right, Russia only become more populous than France shortly before 1800.

Which is very end of aoe 3, like imperial age.

Could still be a bonus considered if Russia end up needing one in late game due to their not so pop efficient infstry.

Thats their point, instant-not efficient infantry. You dont need age 5 to get it, just church and cards.

Very much this. Russian cav archers are amazing in late game.

you should view infantry as your support units, your best units are in the cavalry and your artillery is pretty fast to build as well.

The same as everyone has been saying, infantry is good on the early game, musketeers are fine, pretty good actually, in fact, almost the same as british musks but not in super late game or treaty, then, strelets are an amazing unit but only in early-mid game, then, in treaty are actually pretty bad; and your cavalry is one of the best of the game, in early-mid game cossacks are nothing too special, they are good, even great, but in late game they are one of the best hand cavalry units of the game, the only one that may be stronger is the Gendarme, depending in circumstances, and then, the cav archer is also amazing, in early-mid game is great and in late game is also great, one of the best euro light cavalry units, it does more damage than goons, they have almost the double melee hp of the goon, while still having more than 8% more ranged hp than the goon, and also they are quite cheaper, they are super good light cav, so if they are bad, then goons are just terrible. So if you are playing a short game then you can go inf, but if you are playing a long game, then use your cavalry for sure, and if you are playing treaty, i suggest avoid training infantry, just grenadiers sometimes, and if they get buffed (i havent seen it) then yes, more, but basically your cav is the best.

the infantry is actually still pretty good lategame because its only 5-10% worse than standard but 25% cheaper, you just need to mix it with cavalry more than you might be used to with other factions.

In fact, when players combine dragoon + skirmisher russian cav is useless. They are easy taken down because of dumb pathfinding, and it’s pretty hard to micro 30-50 cav to engage properly.

As I said, they are not worth it when most players just go with skimisher+draggon composition.

To counter that combo you have to train artillery, that is a must to become russian army efficient with k/d ratio.
Your units are cheaper than others and you train villagers faster, you should have advantage.

A buff to Musketeers is also not going to matter against that composition.

If the opponent goes heavy with cav, just use halberds or cav. archers.

The original matter was enemies going cav (lancer, curis, heavy hussar)+skirmisher+cannons with that composition musks suppose to hold cav and they die like flies not even from skimisher shots but cav!!

Then make horse archers…

So why russians have musk then? It’s useless.

I don’t see how a cavalry charge can be successful against Russia in late game. Your muskets and halebardiers are trained instantly. There is no way on Earth someone can engage Russia with heavy cavalry unless Russia is really, really out of position. Simply keep block houses close to the front, and just spam the living soul out of your halebardiers, you will see nobody will dare charge with heavy cavalry again.

The Russian combo for late game is cavalry+artillery. Your cossacks act as meat shields and path blockers to protect your artillery. If the enemy goes melee cav, get more cavalry archers, which are superb at dealing with melee cavalry, and are decent against heavy infantry as well. If the enemy goes dragoon+skirmishers, go strelet + cannon. Since your units train insanely fast and are very cost efficient, you have the advantage of adapting the army.

someone making a mix of cav and skirmishers doesn’t have any anti-cavalry in that composition, so the correct counter composition is heavy cavalry eg. cossacks (of which skirm huss doesn’t have a counter too) backed by cav archers (to make sure your cossacks win the cav vs cav fight)

if you have heavy cav fighting their heavy cav, you have cav archers behind your cossacks and they have skirms behind their hussars, your ranged unit will significantly swing the fight in your favour so your heavy cav can charge the skirms afterwards. his skirms will do minimal damage to cossacks (which have the most ranged hp per pop of any unit in the entire game). you win the cav on cav fight with some cossacks left, charge the skirms and let the cav archers deal ranged damage to anything nearby and let the cossacks tank the ranged fire. both are good vs artillery too. just make sure your reinforcements are primarily cossacks to keep the count up after the cav cav fight
