Issue:
Using the Cinematic: Fade Screen with the Fade set to OFF on a map that is large and/or very detailed.
Trigger Event:
Multiple maps I’ve made use the Cinematic: Fade Screen with Fade OFF, but the UI flashes for a few seconds before it actually turns black and fades from black. I tested it again with a main campaign scenario (Fall of the Trident 01) and it occurs on that map as well if you overload the map with a lot of stuff.
Testing this can be done easier by opening a campaign map and expanding & such below. I used the Terrain Copy & Terrain Paste to copy & paste massive sections of the map (including terrain, textures, buildings, nature objects, but not units).
Repro Steps:
- Expand a map to a large size
- Place a LOT of detail across the map. See the Trigger Event section for more detail on this.
- Make a FIRST trigger that is set to Active & Run Immediately.
4.To the FIRST trigger: Add the Effect of Cinematic: Fade Screen with the Fade set to OFF. - To the FIRST trigger: Add the Effect of Cinematic: Toggle Cinematic Mode with Mode set to ON & Letterbox set to OFF.
- To the FIRST trigger: Add the Effect of Render: Fog/Black Map with Fog of War & Black Map both set to OFF.
- To the FIRST trigger: Add the Effect of Camera: Cut to View. Use the Set Cut button to set its cut to a location you wish to view during the test.
- To ensure the cinematic ends, we must add a SECOND trigger with Active not checked!
- To the SECOND trigger: Add the Effect of Cinematic: Toggle Cinematic Mode with Mode set to OFF & Letterbox set to OFF.
- To the SECOND trigger: Add the effect of Fog/Black Map with Fog of War & Black Map both set to ON.
- To the SECOND trigger: Add a condition of Timer: Seconds with Seconds set to 5.
- To the FIRST trigger: add a new Effect of Trigger: Activate, and set its setting called ‘Trigger’ to the SECOND trigger.
- Test. The scenario appears to show the UI for a few seconds
