Secondary Rally Points

I think it would be a great QoL feature to have multiple rally points for TCs. Since all of the civs except Atlanteans can build multiple types of units from a TC it would streamline the gameplay I feel.

No more Greek heroes hanging out with my vills all forgotten in the wood line, no more unwanted mixing up of dwarves and gatherers, or even a couple of Egyptian vills sent to the frontline for slaughter because I had just trained some mercenaries.

I think most players would agree with the sentiment, but I’m curious what you think would be the best way to implement this.

Would it be a rally point per unit type like economic and military? That wouldn’t really solve the Norse gatherer/dwarf situation. Would it be per unit? Well then that would be more than 2 for Egyptians (4) and Norse (3).

Maybe it would just be another gather point that we can set for a particular unit as we see fit? So you have a default gather point, but then you can enable a different gather point for a unit of your choosing, represented say by a small indicator on its icon, which you can specify and change during the game. This logic would also then allow this for any building in principle e.g. my chariot archers spawn at the Migdol while my camels rally at the flank of the enemy position.

What’s your take on this?

military rally points were a thing with aoe3, which enabled you to set the eco and military rally points independently, so its already in engine, just needs to be enabled if it isn’t

I’d like to see this feature added to Age of Mythology: Retold, too. It’s always annoying when my heroes are hanging out with my villagers, standing idle.

you could also set it so the military rally point only triggered via hotkey while eco required only the standard right click, via the right click sets only eco rally point option, which could further be tweaked to either never being on, always being on or being always on specifically for town centers, this existed since 2005
