Set Heroic Age

I have a question: I constantly see pro-players picking Nephthys instead of Sekhmet. I think they’re doing it because of Ancestors, as a game-changing ability, because I don’t see any other point in it. Sekhmet gives a Citadel, which is a huge boost, it gives lifesteal for MU, makes slingers more useful, increases the range of chariots and most importantly, it gives a Scarab, which provide instantly charge the enemy base. I tried playing with that Nephthys, and it took forever to build that damn Siege Workshop, then a damn Tower, and then that damn Tower would barely make it to the enemy base. So even as a game-changer, Scarab beats Ancestors. Or am I missing something?

Depends on what your playstyle is and what you are going for.

Set heroic timing is stronger with Ancestors. Since you can push into a base with 2-3 siege towers backed up by barracks units and Ancestors on top. While citadel albeit it very strong is more defensive and boomie in playstyle. And more late game oriented.

If you go Sekmeth is mostly for spamming Chariots. The Slingers are only worth it if u went ptah and already have some of them due to fighting in classic age. Otherwise the bone bow Chariot archer does a better job.

Even with Toxots? Slingers have a lot of piercing armor.

I agree, but the slow Ptah just doesn’t suit me; the raid-able Anubis is better. On the other hand, the enemy adapts. If you have 25 chariots, expect to see massed peltasts. But if you’re up against Atlanteans, there won’t be a single Arcus. Just endless turms. In a 3v3 game, you’re 100% guaranteed to deal with counter-archers.

As for 1v1 combat, Sekhmet offers flexibility, both a burst at age 3 and a boom if the game extended on. Plus, as I understand it, a slinger will deal x3.75 damage to a throwing axeman with sun slings (at least they die very quickly). So even without Ptah, she looks pretty good.

I often have to use a mix of slingers and chariots. While chariots deal with infantry, slingers deal with archers, and can also be somewhat effective if the enemy suddenly switches to mass infantry.
As I said, there are too many bonuses for one god; she’s good in any situation.

Yes, because of the range is gives to Chariots, with micro they beat even peltast. Its why it got nerfed. But its still strong.

You can deal with them with Chariots. Theres different ways. You can either outrange them and keep whooting and retreating. You can have a forward midgold, siege with catapult on heroic and use garrison micro to protects Chariots and make counter archers miss or switch to midgold or your frontline.

As i said, it depends on what playstyle you enjoy.

Yea, as i said, Ancestors is better timing, Sekmeth offers more late game potential, slow crawls with heroic catapults or a boost to Slingers you already have.

Yes the bonus stacks.

Its not that the god is bad is that depending on what you wanna do the other might be better.

You asked why pro players picked it. Its because of the timing attack that it enables set to do. Set is not the Best at late game. Its a god that thrives on timings and dealing damage to keep ahead. Is another reason its pared with thoth for a push with meteor and a Quick power spike with valley of the kings.

In large team games, Sekhmet is better. In 1v1 or 2v2,nephthys is better. If the enemy is very turtle, skhemet is better in age3 cause you have catapults, which are ridiculous in age3.

But it depends on match up.
