Shift+click and auto scouting causes units to get stuck randomly

  • Game Version: Premium

  • Build Number: 100.18.50572.0

  • Platform: Steam

  • Operating System: Windows 10

Issue:

Shift+click pathing is broken. When issuing multiple shift+click commands to a unit, the unit will stop in random places, especially if it encounters an obstacle (forest, mountain, etc.). The unit doesn’t default back to idle state so there’s no warning of this until you manually find the stuck unit on the map. Issuing further shift+click commands can trigger this behavior again.

The issue is intermittent, sometimes not happening at all in a whole match, sometimes happening repeatedly in very short time spans. Hades maps seem to cause this the most, I guess due to the rock formations also blocking the path.

The problem also affects flying units (including scouts) to a lesser degree.

Trigger Event:

Manually shift+click on several locations, including areas still obscured by fog-of-war so the unit scouts. The rest is just following the unit to see if it gets stuck somewhere.

The trigger is also auto-scouting, but it’s less common.

Repro Steps:

  1. Start a match
  2. Use your starting scout or any other unit (villager, foot solider, etc.) and issue it several (10+ shift+click move commands across the mini map (obscured or not). Auto-scouting also causes this in units that have this feature.
  3. Watch as the unit moves through the assigned path until it faces an obstacle (forest, mountain, rock formation, etc.).
  4. The unit may continue around the obstacle or just stop
  5. The unit will be stuck but still trying to move so it doesn’t go back to an idle state
