Should the Aztecs have a doomsday system?

Now that the DLC has been out for a bit I wanted to talk a bit about if the aztecs would get a doomsday system (kind of like in EU4), It would synergize well with their mythology and give the player a real feeling of impending doom that aztec leaders and priests had when they couldn’t get tonali or sacrifices to appease the gods.

For those who don’t know, one of the reasons the aztecs believed in sacrifice is that it meant huitzilapotchli would be sustained and if they stopped he’d be weakened and killed. Another explanation I’ve come across is to appease the gods so they don’t end the world and start over.

As for what doomsday would do, I’d assume the best way to go about it is to have towncenters be overrun by a kind of myth unit, and if the player survives they can sacrifice again to heal their god back (or appease them depending on the take) and end doomsday. The doomsday could also be different for each major god to show what happens when that god is weakened/angry.

This would also incentivize the player to keep getting favor thru sacrifices if they cant seek out engagements and force the player to collect favor in a way.

Those are my thoughts I’m curious to see what the community thinks!

This could be an interesting idea, but I would prefer it to be included in a special game mode (“Doom Mode”), where there are different world endings for each pantheon (Titanomachy for the Greeks and Atlanteans, Ragnarok for the Norse, etc.), and the end of the world comes when certain requirements are met, and when the end of the world arrives each player is attacked by giants and monsters from the mythology corresponding to this end of the world (similar to the effect of Fimbulwinter godpower), or each player receives several doomsday myth units for the players to fight a super battle, etc.
