Bombards doing no damage to cavalry seems dumb. Bombards are simply not worth the gold investment, specially in FFA where I play. I waited a year for Rams to be fixed and bombards to be playable again, because for 1 population value Rams were OP. And when they finally got fixed, the Siege rework happened and made bombards trash again. Seeing a group of Mangonels defeat a group of bombards is dumb. I’m still counting the stars on when bombards are going to be playable again.
Suggestions
- Replace +50 Bonus vs Elephants with +30 vs Cavalry.
- Remove the range buff from Adjustable Crossbars and reduce it’s cost.
Siege units are so weak, in general. A horse kicks them with a hoof and they explode. But regarding your comment, sounds good to me, as it would make a siege unit more worthwhile
The joke about reducing cannon damage against cavalry makes sense:
So that cavalry can counter them and not be like in S5, where if you got 40 or 30 Culverins you could literally kill everything, EVERYTHING, including cavalry, infantry, and other siege units.
Let’s not forget the era when the Ottomans were invincible because the Big Bombard combo was utterly useless and had no counter.
Bombards in real life, and those from the game era, would hardly have the ability to properly target moving cavalry.
But since this game lacks Bombards that “miss” their shots, the trade-off is to reduce the percentage of damage they do to cavalry to reflect that they were made to destroy buildings or statics targets, not cavalry troops.
