So, basically just token work and no actual content

I knew that this DLC would hardly include anything new, not even new Icons, however, aside from the mandatory aztec nerf -yikes, is like they didn’t even understood the design principles of their factions- the balances are mostly “simbolic” in the sense that it wouldn’t make a difference beside in highest of ELO. We were specting some kind of actual rebalance, something to quell off the issues of the broken witch hunter or the chinaco, instead of 20 gold more for some units.
After the attempt to roll AoE1 into AoE2, this feels like an insult, like if the devs had fully embraced the most empty-headed opinions of the suits and are trying to force everybody to consume AoE2.
Heck, this is so half baked, they even recicled the thumbnail and didn’t care to make a spooky thumbnail as they did for AoE2.

The truth is I feel disappointed in every way, I just hope that next time they do things better and give us an update that is really worth it

In their defense, the game is a remaster. It was good enough to be “done” once already. These guys picked it up, added a bunch of content, patched it a bunch of times. It’s been balanced, polished, fine-tuned, play-tested, etc for years. At some point, you call the project “done,” and they’re obviously getting close with this one.

The expectation that we’re going to get a major shake-up and major new content (outside of the announced Polish/Danish DLC) is a pipe dream. They’re not adding a bunch of new stuff anymore. They’ve added what they want to and are now wrapping up the project so they can move on to other ones, like AoM:Retold, it’s two expansions, and continued support for it. People have got to start coming to terms with it.

No, I don’t like it. I look at the roster and see a lot of things I’d like to see addressed. I see some balance issues. More importantly, the AI needs a huge overhaul to accommodate those of us who play single player, the revolutions all need another polish pass, particularly the ones they’ve absolutely broken and made terrible, and the ones they didn’t rework yet. The African civs need a QoL pass. They’re strong as hell in the late game, but irritating to play up to that point because of their gimmicks. The Asian civs deserve a polish pass to bring them up to speed with the European ones that got major reworks. Above all else, truly, the one thing I want is for my cavalry to attack falconets. Yes, I’m that petty. But since every game eventually devolves into spamming the things I want my counters to actually attack the things instead of running in circles around them, or scattering in 100 directions to go find the nearest pikeman to attack instead. I absolutely loathe having to micro each and every unit when fighting these things because I’m constantly having to fight a broken targeting algorithm.

All of that needs to be fixed, but likely, we’ll see little to nothing because they’re getting close to “done.” We may see 1-2 patches after that DLC launches to fix major balance issues, but that’s it. And they’re not going to tell us anything at all about any of it. It’ll be radio silence from this team about it, too, because that’s how they operate.

I know I’m being a downer here, but we need to have honest expectations.
