Some complaints about Chronicles

Strictly speaking, when the news of the Greek Chronicle came out, I was very happy. There were a huge number of unit skins and the not-so-obscure theme of the Grenade-Persian Wars. But with its release, some of my expectations were dashed. As a new series, I think it didn’t make any fundamental changes. The chronicle still adopts the original unit line design, which inevitably leads to the reuse of unit skins. In Age of Empires II Definitive Edition, the skins of each unit in the unit line can still be suitable for Western European countries, but in the Chronicles, to be honest, I can’t associate these common units with any chronicle civilization.

If that’s the case, why not give each chronicle civilization a set of military units that suit its own culture?

However, even so, there are still many excellent and unique units and decorations in the Greek Chronicles. These existences have enriched the images of Greece and Persia as well as the regions and civilizations that appeared in many battles. I think this is a very good development. But just as I was thinking this, Alexander come.

For Alexander, I must say:

In the Greek chronicle, excluding the common troops and heroes, there are a total of 20 unique troop models in battles. However, in the Alexander Chronicle, there are only 10 unique troop models, which is about half the size.

and There are many ready-made designs of the Scythian nobility on the Internet. No matter which one you choose, it is much better than using the Sogdian armor cavalry from hundreds of years later to deal with it. The reason why I bought the chronicle is that there are many unique troops and architectural models to show the cultural features of different civilizations in the classical era. This sense of immersion is something the define editon cannot give me. But this chronicle and its perfunctory attitude are disappointing.

This DLC has more content then every other AoE2DE DLC besides Battle of Greece and you are complaining?

AoE2 hasn’t gotten a new Architecture set since the release of the Definitive Edition in 2019 and this DLC has 2.
