Firstly wanted to say that I’m really enjoying playing and well done to the dev team. I have some feedback regarding controls making the game feel a little tedious/painful to play at times.
These issues affect all Gods, but Egyptians in particular (I’ve played the mostly) are affected more.
- Select all army should not include priests/pharaohs that are empowering buildings. If a player has chosen to empower a building, the select all army key becomes incredibly annoying to use. You either stop them from empowering, or you have to deslect the pharaoh or ALL priests (since there’s only 1 icon per unit type) from the group after using the hotkey. This is especially bad when you have multiple priests and only some of them are empowering. You either remove them all from the selection (and then not use half your priests), or you give them all a command and stop some of your priests from empowering.
Solution: Please remove pharaohs/priests that are empowering from the ‘select all army’ hotkey.

Scouts should not be included in select all army key. In AoE4 they finally made this change after people complained for a really long time, and it’s been a very welcome to change. Ideally people should be scouting with scouts. If you want to use the select all army hotkey for important moments, you currently have to deselect scouts every time you use the hotkey, otherwise they just join the fight and become useless.

Many of the hotkeys that are “Find X unit/building”, can we please have the option to “Select” instead of “Find”? AoE4 has the choice between these two and it really does help in reducing unneccesary APM in a lot of circumstances. For example, if I want to use a hotkey (not control group) to select buildings (ie. armouy or eco buildings) in order to research the upgrade, it’s tedious for the camera to be forced to where that building is. At high level play, you are often fighting a lot. Constantly having to re-move the camera back to the fighting just because you want to research some upgrades is quite annoying. Please give this as an option. It feels much better for me to press a second key (for me I use mouse button 3) to focus on a selected unit.

Give the option for a build ‘menu’ with villagers. Although it’s nice having to press only 1 button to build a building, I’m finding that I’d rather have all of those keys on the left side of the keyboard available for other actoins. I’d prefer to just have a build menu, that way I’ll have all those keys freed up. This will also be more consistent with Norse since their buildings are behind a build menu. I’m also finding that when I have villagers selected, I’m often getting issues using other hotkeys (like unit/building selection) that use those keys + a modifier. I’ll have to deselect the villager just so I can use a hotkey like Alt+R for example to select whatever it is I have that set to. So it ends up costing me the same if not more APM sometimes to get around the fact that there’s no separate build menu tab.
