Sooo... why do regular Hussars still have wings?

It’s really weird to me that the regular Hussars still have wings despite having a unit that it’s literally called “Winged Hussar”, The Magyar Huszar is fine, but I think they should remove the wings from the regular Hussar, or at least have the option to do so via an official mod.

In fact it would be good if they rename the unit “Hussar” to “Elite Light Cavalry” for all civs other than Poles/Liths (& may be Magyars) - they can keep the same stats as now but will be a small step towards accuracy (even if that is not the aim of the game, I know. Hussar is so region-specific term that it sounds odd for other civs to have it - as odd as a Burmese Eagle Warrior or a Incan Mameluke)

I mean, I get where you are coming from, but I think that’s taking it too far, the unit has been called that for 20 years and it’s pretty important for people to understand old guides and stuff, like, sure some units have been renamed (“Arbalest” to “Arbalester” and “Calmel” to “Camel Rider”) but those are nowhere near as different from the original as the one you mentioned.
A slight graphical update would be easier to assimilate and less disruptive.

Isn’t Hussar a recent addition to the line, after FE? For some reason I think AOK, AOC etc didn’t have an unit called Hussar (though I could be wrong)

Nah it was AoC, same as the Halberdier, It’s actually 21 years because AoC was released in the year 2000

Hussars still have Wings because about 95 % of the community like them having wings.

Now, if the unit called “Winged Hussar” didn’t exist I think you would be correct, but this just changes everything

Not for me. And I’m very sure for most people in the community it also has basically no no influence in their perception of the standard hussar.

Alright, I’ll make a poll tomorrow (It’s kinda late where I live)
Let’s see, I think you are correct that there are some people who prefer the winged regular hussar like you, but I think a lot of (I dare say the majority) will agree that having 3 winged hussars in the game is kinda redundant and weird
I could be wrong tho
