Stop Killing Games

With SKG I hope the EU forces devs to release their multiplayer software

So I can host pre 3K servers.

We went our own way on fan servers when Microsoft fucked us before, and we can do it again.

It will only apply if they cease all support which includes locking multiplayer access. Not so long it’s supported with servers, or players can host themselves.

It’s about having the keys to keep it running. Unlike The Crew for example (soon resurrected by a mod though).

On the bright side, it’d mean we could run our own Age of Empires III multiplayer servers.

Yes, they’d have to release the tools to run your own servers.

“Stop Killing Games” is about forcing developers/publisher to have an end of life plan for their game to keep it in a playable state.

  1. This only applies to future games. It will never apply to games that are already released like AoE1DE/2DE/3DE/4/AoMR.
  2. Enabling LAN Mode an/or direct IP connection would likely be more enough to keep an AoE title “playable”.
  3. The initiative is not concerned about the content of the game. It doesn’t want for developers to have every patch version of the game playable forever so no right to get AoE2 before 3 Kingdoms.

For older games, it would indeed take the form of : devs can take no legal action to prevent players from resurrecting games that are no longer playable. Not putting any weight on them.

Correct. Indubitably. Affirmative.

either you own yourself, or you don’t. guess you don’t own yourself then. any initiation of violence against you is therefore legitimate, according to your own worldview.
