Stop updating age 2!

I hope they just keep adding variants because of this thread lol

Never thought about this, but it makes totally sense. Combine this with how AoE3DE vanished with words like colony and plantation and butchered the Shadow campaign (and the fireplace, because magical dance is too much but magical asian monument is not).

Really…? Why…?

Suppose we have ‘Age Game X’ that sells 500k copies and have 20k players playing every day.

Then we have ‘Age Game Y’ that sells 900k copies and have only 6k players playing every day.

How the first situation is best than the second situation for a company…?

Or both can be bad (20 chars)

Only one of them where removed so I guess only one is bad. (one Asian monument is literally Age of Mythology God Power Ceasefire lol)

Everything you said is wrong

Alright, no more updates for Age II. Let’s just call the next update Age V. If Americans can rename an entire gulf, why not a little game? No more Age II, III, or IV—long live Age V!

Sim, também porque você pode tornar os dlcs mais fáceis para 2 do que para o resto dos jogos…

Mate, no Age game ever “replaced” the other. They all co-exist.

Trying to not be too nitpicky but AoE 2 HD got replaced with the Definitive edition and something similar with AoE DE and Return of Rome.

Well, yep, but I don’t refer to the remasters but rather new installments.

AOE2 has been the backbone of the series all this time (AOE4 would not exist without the 2013 version), and is still the most played of the series.

The reason why they keep making content for AOE2 is simple : it’s profitable. High player count on the one hand, and on the other hand making content for it is quite cheap.

Of course, in 2013 on Steam you had AoE 3 CC and AoE Online that were there without generating anything…in 2013 they launched AoE 2 HD and in 2014 AoM EE (at the same time they closed AoE Online and released Castle Siege on mobile) and with that you had the remasters of the AoE that were missing on Steam, AoE 2 HD began to generate a lot with the DLCs in 2015 and 2016 and that moved Microsoft to decide to release the DE games and AoE 4…the saga was like in a limbo and half dying, AoE 2 HD helped it revive a little at the beginning and then with 2 DE it revived strongly…now the thing is mixed, since although 2 DE, 4 and Retold are doing well, they let 1 DE and 3 DE die (the latter a little unnecessary, but understandable in business terms)…

The good old Overwatch/Counter Strike method

and then they drop news of the biggest update haha.

The update looks absolutely fabulous! I hope the enthusiasm of the commuinity will be an incentive to continue working on things that are long overdue.
