Strelets Horde needs a makeover. The fact that it creates 5 strelets in each bloghouse does not help at all at the age 4, but only hinders, because before sending it I have to remember and find each of my bloghouses on the map and set a rally point for them, instead of fighting. Moreover, at the age of 4, there is no need for this spam because strelets already crawling out endlessly. It would be better if the player just receives one free strelet from each unit trained in the bloghouse.
And I don’t see any problem in making the melee damage of strelets the same as range from base.
You should be setting rally points for all of your blockhouses as you build them. As soon as you put the foundation down, you can click it and set the waypoint. You can double click to select all of the same building on the screen, so if you have 6 blockhouses right around your town center, double click, select them all, set the waypoint for all of them with 1 click.
If you have a forward base, you probably want all of them rallying to the same point, but a different point than your town rallies to.
There’s nothing wrong with the Strelet Horde card. You simply need to learn to use the waypoints, so they’ll rally where you want. This is important, because it’s the same for the Japanese Samurai muster, the Swedish and Finnish Carolean muster, the US (TN, Age 3) militia muster, etc.
It’s just that the 20 population limit creeps across the entire map for 5 minutes and prevents the construction of other units. There is no benefit to this. This is a debuff.
Thanks, but this does not solve the problem I described above.
The card at most is worth 1820 res, but it takes forever to actually happen, as the card has to arrive and then your streltsy have to spawn out. If they all just instantly popped out it’d work but as is I don’t think it’s very good.
Even with just the HP and range increase, the card would generally be worth a slot in your deck in a situation where the game will go long and you are spamming strelets. 10%hp and 2 range isn’t astounding, but throw on up to 35 free strelets and it becomes a good situational card. No need for a change.
To listen to you, the appearance of 35 strelets scattered throughout the map decides the outcome of the battle at the age of 4.
You will be surprised if you remove the spam of strelets, the game will only become easier, not more difficult. Upgrading range and HP is not situational, it is required.
What streltsy really need is a card that makes them cost wood instead of gold in age 4, since wood will eventually become scarce. It’s funny that a trash war in aoe3 is a war without wood instead of gold, like aoe2.
Vet Strelet adds +1 range.
Guard Strelet adds +1 range.
Strelet Horde doesn’t add range anymore. It’s really painful needing another upgrade card just to have decent skirms.
You could say “But then Strelet horde is worse”. Sure. But frankly I don’t care. The range would help the civ and the current way of giving it to them is a punishment rather than an advantage. The devs have gotten pretty comfortable adding range with ups.
I like your idea, but no changes in the horde are needed then. It’s just that now strelets only use range for the imperial upgrade. Moving the +2 from the imperial upgrade to the two previous upgrades would be cool. It’s just not clear what to fight with before the age 4.
I think you mean that the other way around, they cost wood and you want the to cost gold late game, kinda like the Aztec card that makes all the Aztec units convert wood cost to gold cost?
Except my whole point was trying to free up a cad slot… in Treaty and FFA you have so many great cards and can’t use them all (which is fine, but just one more card slot would be huge).
