The 3K would fit classical antiquity even less than they would fit late antiquity
I think its likely that if we keep getting more Chronicles we would end up in the third century crisis
So it would fit by then, after all, the 3K campaigns end up by the earliest 3rd century
I donāt think it will reach that far, Iād be surprised if it goes much further than Augustus, as by this point Rome will have conquered most of the map. The last significant challenge it faced was itself and it ended at Actium, after that it was fly swatting for one and a half centuries.
While all players are already there in AOE2 for the Crisis (Goths, Franks, you can also use Vikings for more naval-oriented Germans such as the Saxons, Persians which are the Sassanids, Huns who would come later). The turning point is the Antonine Plague during the reign of Marcus Aurelius that nerfed Rome severely and made it vulnerable to barbarians, and immediately after that, Septimius Severus butchered the political stability.
No.
Also, I donāt know how many more times this needs to be said or how many different ways it can be said:
Devs, please move the 3K civs to Chronicles where they belong.
@Felizon89
I donāt believe I have ever seen a more unified request for a change to be made to the game from the community than this:
That is all, thank you.
Honestly it should be in its own engine so it doesnt take up space in aoe2 for other civ slots. Once thsts done have them in ranked
Hm, needs no, could yes, should yes and no.
Understand me correctly. There is two major issue with them beeing ranked.
First issue is, you cannot put them with the ranked without adding a new elo ratio for āthings including chroniclesā. They should not be in the same batch than vanilla civs because they got few variations in their playstyles (two unique techs that exclude each other, naval rewamp) that makes them not legit to face vanilla civs. Itās not a matter of timestamp there, itās because they behave just abit differently, and differently enought for them to be in their own elo ratio stats.
Second issue isā¦Not enought civs yet for a ranked lobby. We only have 3, tomorrow 6, civs with that design as from the first issue pointed, with the double unique tech mechanics and naval rewamp. When weāll have about 18 chronicle civs, then we can agree for real about a ranked including them because there will have enought āchoicesā for variety in the game picking.
To me those two points are the things that result in āNeed = no, Could = yes, Should = Yes and Noā. Itās too early for chronicles to be ranked introduced. Itās a very āchildā project, it only started one year ago, and still needs to grow up abit before beeing able to pretend to become a ranked capable content.
Add to that the fact that itās a singleplayer project at first, if you turn them into ranked civsā¦Then they have to follow ranked rebalancing patches etc, that could impact campaign too much. If you put them with vanilla civs at least I mean. If you make them a ranked lobby on their own, them they can think of that differently but once more, the two major points Iāve listed are the one that makes me tell that itās too early yet. Maybe in two yeras Chronicles will be ready to be introduced into ranked system. (not to mention the game database would need some work, for a content that is behind DLC purchase, there is a lot of technical and economical things to keep in mind)
Their arms, armament and military style is antiquity. Better there than in the Middle Ages setting.
Eh, I think the Third Cemtury crisis is recognizable enough and would feature enough factions for its own DLC.
Its also seen as the end of the Pax Romana and Classical antiquity, we gpt a Trajanus campaign which wasnt much earlier than that
Also the main factions would be the Gallo-Romans and Palmyrenrs, not Persians, Goths or Franks
